Mickey Mouse Politics

Let’s see. The Florida GOP governor and legislature is beating up on one of their top economic engines – tourism.  The dumbsh_t Texas GOP governor is beating up on one of our top economic engines – trade.  All to score points with their rabid whacko base.

I have yet to figure out how any of this is good public policy.  Being a bully is not good public policy. 

Taking on Mickey, Goofy, Donald Duck, Minnie, and Dumbo doesn’t make a lot of sense to Commentary.

The Chron and another prestigious media outlet have put out pieces recently on the local Crime Stoppers organization and how they are getting a bit partisan. A prominent local GOP elected official then came to Crime Stoppers defense. Got it?

Today is Earth Day 2022. My favorite Earth Day related tune is “Nature’s Way” by Spirit that came out in 1970.  It is on their “Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus” album.  I have that album on vinyl. The tune was written by Randy California.

I watched the Tigers host the Yankees on the MLB Network yesterday to see if Tigers great Miguel Cabrera would get hit number 3,000. He is sitting at 2,999.  He went 0 for 3 with an intentional walk.  The Tigers host the Rockies this weekend so he should get it in front of Tigers fans. He will be the 33^rd hitter to have 3,000 or more base hits.

The Astros host the Blue Jays this weekend.
