100 Years Old

Norman Lear is 100 today.  I don’t know anyone who has had as much impact on TV programming than Lear. “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” “Maude,” “Sanford and Son,” “Good Times,” and “One Day at a Time.”  A living legend for sure. Happy Birthday, Norman Lear!

Russia is pulling out of the International Space Station.  It was only a matter of time.

When Donald Trump was running the pandemic response, Democrats were not rooting against him. We didn’t want folks to catch COVID, get sick or die. Trump ended up running the response into the ground and we are still suffering.

Many GOPers in Congress are rooting for inflation and a recession so it can hurt President Joe Biden and Democrats in November. GOP members in Congress are ok with folks living in the USA feeling the pain in their wallet just so they can stay in office. Sick MFers for sure.  Certainly not patriots.

This is from the Chron about a new cookie place fixing to open in my neighborhood:

A pop-up cookie sensation known for its self-proclaimed “Thick AF” cookies, is opening its first brick-and-mortar shop in the Heights. Pudgy’s Fine Cookies will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, July 31, at 1010 N. Shepherd.

Launched in 2020, Pudgy’s has been operating at pop-ups such as Have a Nice Day HTX and M-K-T Sunset Market; it now has successfully made the leap to its first full-service store that also will share its kitchen with Underground Creamery (available for pre-sale only).

And this yummy bit:

Cookie flavors include The Pudgy (signature chocolate chip), Thickerdoodle (extra-thick Snickerdoodle), Sugar Baby (sugar cookie with rainbow sprinkles), Oat’rageous (oatmeal raisin), Double Trouble (double chocolate with chocolate chips), Great White Hype (white chocolate and macadamia nut), Wild Campfire (s’mores), Choco PB (chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips), Talk Toffee to Me (toffee truffle and salt), Bonanza Brulee (Bananas Foster flavor), Mack Daddy (matcha and macadamia nut with white chocolate), and others.

Good luck with the venture.

A-Rod is 47 today. 696 career dingers. 2,086 career RBIs. 3,115 career base hits. He only played in one World Series – 2009 – and he won a ring that year with the Yankees over the Phillies in six games.  He also was suspended for the 2014 season for using performance enhancement drugs.  Happy Birthday, Alex!

Ok, since you asked.  5 of his career dingers were against the Astros, including 3 at The Yard.

A couple of days ago I was heaping praise on the Astros. Now we have just lost two in a row against the lousiest team in the AL.  We need to win this afternoon so we can come home with a winning roadie.
