Ob-La-Di

President Joe Biden will give a prime-time speech this evening to address the threats to our democracy. The threats to our democracy also happen to be a major concern to the American public.

What threats? Overturning a legal presidential election. Stealing top secret and classified documents.  White supremacy and domestic terrorism. Making it extremely difficult for some folks to vote. For starters

I will be watching.

Everyone knows by now that arsehole Gov. Greg Abbott is also a coward. From the Trib today:

Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that it would be unconstitutional to increase the minimum age to buy assault-style rifles from 18 to 21 years old — a key proposal Uvalde parents have called for after an 18-year-old gunned down their children’s school in May.

And this:

But gun control group March for Our Lives said raising the age to buy an assault rifle is constitutional, and pointed to Rick Scott, former GOP governor in Florida, who raised the legal purchasing age in his state after the Parkland shooting.

He is ok with 19 school kids and 2 teachers getting massacred in an elementary school classroom. A weak punkarse for sure.

Cong. Liz Cheney tweeted this yesterday:

Understanding @tedcruz isn’t difficult. He lacks principle and has always been a chameleon who will say anything, anytime. He thinks he’s so smart no one can see through him. Ted, we can. All of us can.

One thing about Cancun Cruz. It is easy for GOPers to own his arse.

On occasion, I try to keep it simple. Some Harris County Constables are not happy that they can’t rollover funds they didn’t use in the fiscal year. Well, why didn’t you spend the funds in the first place? Just asking.

One of my Beatles wall calendars for September has a photo of the four standing behind Ringo and his drum set with the famous logo on the bass drum.

The other calendar has the four photos that were part of the Beatles White Album set. It wasn’t titled the White Album. It was actually embossed with The BEATLES and was released in November of 1968.

It came with the four photos and a poster. It was the coolest.  The poster, that I still have folded in the album, was a collection of random photos including one with Ringo slow dancing with Elizabeth Taylor.

It was a two-disc album. The best tune was “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Closely followed by “Birthday,” “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” “Happiness is a Warm Gun,” “Helter Skelter,” “I Will,” and “Julia.”

It also had “Rocky Racoon,” “The Continuing Story of Bungalow,” “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” and “Why don’t we do it in the road?” Buying that album, bringing it home and listening to it was an event. The back of the poster also had the lyrics to every tune so you could sing along.

I still have the album, photos, and poster.
