DAILY COMMENTARY

OK Corral U

The lead story on the front page of today’s Chron is about legislation allowing the carrying of concealed weapons on the campuses of our public universities in the Lone Star State. Somehow I don’t think the mixing of tuition deregulation and concealed weapons on campus is a good idea. I don’t think the pro concealed weapons folks are taking into consideration the parking situation at UH’s Central Campus. Going into the Easter Weekend, Commentary is thankful that the legislature only meets once every two years. Our universities are supposed to be institutions of higher learning not higher nooning. I think I’ll take the 3:10 to poly sci 101 – yikes!

Aycock, Bohac, Cornyn, Eissler, Isett, Kleinschmidt, Kolkhorst, Kuempel, Neugebauer, and Zerwas – all GOP lawmakers from the Lone Star State – “do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?"

Commentary is looking forward to iced tea and flour tortillas this Easter Sunday. I’ll also keep an eye on the Tiger. I’ll also watch Mike Hampton tonight in his return engagement with the ‘Stros who will also be on the National TV tomorrow afternoon versus Tony LaRussa, Albert Pujols and the Cardinals.

Have a Happy Easter!
