Doth Protest Too Much?

Yesterday was cold, dreary, and rainy and still a record crowd attended The Rodeo’s Go Tejano Day. Commentary thinks the Latino Rodeo protesters might need some better talking points. Even in a bad economy local Latinos shelled out the buckos to out do last year’s Miley Montana record turnout. I’m betting The Rodeo honchos were doing a lot of high fives and yuk-yukking last night. Commentary is looking forward to seeing how Latino Rodeo protesters spin yesterday’s turnout.

Speaking of, today’s Chron has a piece on Rodeo grub including chicken-fried bacon. I don’t think that’s why Latinos packed the house yesterday.

At last Tuesday’s address before the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The President singled out HISD. Here’s what he said: “and far too few districts are emulating the example of Houston and Long Beach, and using data to track how much progress a student is making and where that student is struggling.” That’s not bad at all. Next time I run into Abe Saavedra, I’ll offer him a St. Arnold or two.

Commentary checked out the nearly two hour-long Will Ferrell show about you know who on HBO Saturday night. It was OK. He probably could have done better with just 30 minutes worth. Commentary thinks Condi Rice was a good sport for making a cameo appearance and playing herself.

Roy O. and Team USA beat The Netherlands last night. Somebody needs to tell the Dutch that wood cleats isn’t going to cut it as Opening Day is now three weeks away.
