Justice Jackson and Tiger

Commentary was watching the U.S. Senate confirmation vote on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson yesterday. When Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she was confirmed, folks in the chamber including Senators and staff stood, applauded, and cheered.  Cancun Cruz would not even recognize the historical significance and walked out. Cancun was on the wrong side of history on this vote.

I am glad I was able to watch it on TV as it happened. Historical. A first. It is about time.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama summed it up best with this tweet:

I was so moved to see Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmed this afternoon. Like so many of you, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride—a sense of joy—to know that this deserving, accomplished Black woman will be a part of the highest court in the land.

Good job, Houston Chronicle, for today’s epic front page on “Justice Jackson.”

My good friend, State Rep. Christina Morales has a fundraiser this evening at the Houston Farmers Market on Airline. The Fab 5 will be performing. I will be there wearing Beatles gear. 6 pm start.

Tiger Woods is one of the greatest athletes of all time. He shot a one under par yesterday.  Watching him yesterday, one would never have thought that he nearly lost his life and a limb fourteen months ago. He tees off this afternoon at 12:41 pm.

I misspoke yesterday. We start the season with nine roadies, not eight. We now have won ten consecutive Opening Day games. We have won every Opening Day since joining the American League. Tonight’s game is on Apple TV+.
