The Texas Democratic Party (TDP) Convention gets underway today, tomorrow and Saturday in Dallas. TDP Chair Gilberto Hinojosa faces a couple of challengers. Here is a Trib story just out on the race: Texas Democratic Party chair faces 2 challengers at convention | The Texas Tribune.

Commentary won’t be going to the convention, so I don’t get to vote. If I was there, I would vote for a new party chair.

This is very aggravating. I am really upset at these two.  Just look at the online headline from Texas Monthly.

See this: Democrats Took Control in Houston. Then Lina Hidalgo and Kim Ogg Went to War. (texasmonthly.com).

I wish they would get their sh_t together. They are both hurting local Democratic Party candidates.

I would be ok if the City of H-Town had not let the NRA use their facilities a few weeks ago.  Same for the GOP. Both promote hate and violence.  See this from today’s Chron:

City Council on Wednesday voted 14-2 to pass a resolution in support of hosting the 2028 Republican National Convention, with the hopes of adding another blockbuster event to the city’s portfolio. Councilmembers Abbie Kamin and Robert Gallegos voted no, saying their constituents are negatively affected by the GOP platform.

And this:

Kamin, whose District C includes Montrose and the Heights, said many of her constituents are affected by the Republican Party’s anti-gay platform. The 2016 national platform disavowed same-sex marriage, and the platform passed by the Republican Party of Texas at its convention in Houston this year described homosexuality as “an abnormal lifestyle choice.” Kamin also pointed out Texas Republicans endorsed repealing the Voting Rights Act and rejected the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“Any organization has a right to enjoy all that our city has to offer, and they should,” Kamin said. “As a city, we do not have to proactively seek out and provide resolutions like this that do not reflect the core and basic principles of common decency and humanity.”

My council member is CM Kamin. I am glad to see her vote the way she did.
