Texans Settle
“Anything in this business is a fad. We don’t think we’re going to last forever. We’re just going to have a good time while it lasts.”
John Lennon
The Beatles probably hold the record for the longest fad ever, I guess.

The only thing that surprised me yesterday about the Uvalde school shooting report was the 376 law enforcement officers on the scene. Think about it. That is 376 folks wearing a badge with their fingers up their arses all at one time.

I saw a clip of Texas State Rep. James Talarico addressing the Texas Democratic Party State Convention this past weekend. He gave a shout out to former State Sen. Wendy Davis for her 13-hour filibuster. This knucklehead Talarico must not know about State Sen. Carol Alvarado’s 15-hour filibuster last year. You know, the overlook the Latina accomplishment thing. What a knucklehead.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa won reelection. Oh, well.

This is from Saturday’s Chron:
The Texans have settled claims with all 30 women who accused former quarterback Deshaun Watson of sexual assault during massage appointments, according to the plaintiff’s attorney and the football team.
The settlement comes weeks after a civil lawsuit was filed on June 27 in Harris County alleging the team was warned about Watson’s inappropriate behavior during massage therapy sessions several months before the franchise’s responded publicly.
And this is my favorite part – what the Texans said:
“Although our organization did not have any knowledge of Deshaun Watson’s alleged misconduct, we have intentionally chosen to resolve this matter amicably. This is not an admission of any wrongdoing but instead a clear stand against any form of sexual assault and misconduct.
“We hope that today’s resolution will provide some form of closure to the parties involved, our fans and the Houston community at large. As an organization, we will now turn our focus to the future and doing what we can to ensure respect for all.”
Ok. Why settle then if you didn’t do anything wrong? Morons.

We are at the All Star Game break. 5 Astros made the AL All Star team but Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez are dinged up some and won’t be attending. Justin Verlander will go but won’t pitch. Kyle Tucker and Framber Valdez may see playing time. Dusty Baker will manage the AL All Stars.
We have played 91 games with 71 remaining. We have a 9-game lead in the AL West and the third best record in MLB at 59-32.
Play resumes Thursday at The Yard with a twin bill versus the Yankees.
