Astros at the Capitol

The campaign contribution and expenditure reports were due Tuesday here in Texas.  Commentary is not a big fan of the lack of enforcement of penalties for those who file late.  I am not going to name those who are late.  We need better enforcement mechanisms.

The Houston Astros were honored yesterday at the state capitol.  Astros owner Jim Crane, closer Ryan Pressly, catcher Jason Castro, and front office bigwigs Anita Sehgal and Giles Kibbe represented the team. The World Series trophy also made it to the capitol.

State Sen. Carol Alvarado sponsored a senate resolution congratulating the Astros on their 2022 World Series Championship. Here is what Sen. Alvarado said about the owner yesterday on the Senate Floor:

In 2011, as the new Astros owner, Jim Crane promised the fans a winning franchise. Jim has certainly kept his promise.

We have been to four out of the last six World Series and set an American League record by playing in our sixth consecutive League Championship Series.

Jim, you have built a world class organization that is among the elite in professional sports here and abroad. You have created something special that we all appreciate.

We may not win it all every season, but whoever wins it is going to have to go through us first.  Thank you, Jim.

Nice.

I watched the proceeding yesterday. Afterwards, just about every state senator had their picture taken with the trophy and the Astros contingent.

Sorry for being tardy. I am having a problem with my twitter today. I can’t seem to find the sparkle icon so I can see tweets in chronological order. Maybe it is just me.
