Mr. Mack

NBC is airing a special this evening to honor Carol Burnett on her 90th birthday today. The Carol Burnett Show aired on CBS for eleven years. Got it?

The Chron has a lengthy piece on Mattress Mack online. It looks like he may get a lot of coverage over the next few days. Good for him. He is one of the Chron’s biggest advertisers.  Check this line from the piece:

“I don’t know of any other furniture salesman on planet earth whose face is tattooed on people’s arms,” said U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, Mack’s friend for more than a decade.

When Judge Lina Hidalgo referred to Mack as a “furniture salesman,” Mack went ballistic. Oh, well.

If Mack is going to keep getting involved in campaigns and issues, he needs to get a thicker skin. Just saying.

This is a sub-headline in the Trib today:

Texas Democrats are hopeful Biden can run a competitive race in the historically red state — especially if the GOP nominee is Donald Trump again.

Here is from the Trib article:

Biden nonetheless faces headwinds nationally and in Texas, where he remains unpopular in polling and was a political liability for Beto O’Rourke in his unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign last year. Still, Texas Democrats are hopeful Biden can run a competitive race in the historically red state — especially if the GOP nominee is Donald Trump again.

Trump has been working to shore up his support in Texas as he prepares for a likely primary battle against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Biden, meanwhile, faces a pair of long-shot primary opponents in Marianne Williamson, the self-help author who also ran in 2020, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the prominent vaccine skeptic and nephew of former President John F. Kennedy.

The head of the Texas Democratic Party, Gilberto Hinojosa, was quick to release a statement cheering on Biden’s reelection campaign.

“We’re ecstatic that President Biden has announced that he’ll be running for re-election — and we look forward to working like hell to ensure he has four more years in the White House fighting for hardworking Texas families,” Hinojosa said.

As long as the same folks are running the Texas Democratic Party, we won’t be competitive in November elections and folks know it.

The person is an absolute wacko. See this from the Daily Beast:

Kari Lake raised her Tucker Carlson fandom to dizzying new heights Tuesday night by groveling for the fired Fox News star to return to the airwaves to “save our country.” The failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate appeared on The Balance on Newsmax to make her hysterical plea. “I don’t know what Tucker Carlson’s deal is but I worry that he might still be under contract and they’re literally going to be paying him 10, 20, 30 million a year to just sit there and be quiet,” Lake said. “We can’t afford to have Tucker Carlson’s voice silenced for a year-and-a-half. I don’t know if Tucker’s listening to this but if he happens to hear it: I beg you, Tucker Carlson, to speak out, break the terms of that contract. We need your voice over the next year-and-a-half to save our country.” The Republican even went so far as to offer to “help create a defense fund” in the event that Fox News sued him for breaching his contract. How thoughtful.

Wacko for sure.
