More Candidates?

My John Whitmire for Houston Mayor yard sign went up today. It is the featured photo.

More candidates for H-Town mayor? Check this from the Chron:

Former At-Large City Councilmember Jack Christie is considering a run for mayor, and attorney Tony Buzbee said he has not ruled out a run despite taking on Attorney General Ken Paxton’s impeachment defense.

Christie, a Republican who also served as Spring Branch ISD board president and a trustee for the State Board of Education, said supporters are encouraging to get him in the race.

“I’m considering it, but far from signing up,” said Christie. “They’re laying out a plan that they think can be a winnable political campaign … I’m honored that I’d be considered within a very good group of candidates.”

The former council member said he does not have a particular timeline in mind to make a decision. Candidates have until Aug. 21 to file for a place on the November ballot.

Here is the entire read: Jack Christie is mulling a run for Houston mayor, Buzbee still on the (houstonchronicle.com).

Commentary gets along with former Council Member Christie.

On this: “They’re laying out a plan that they think can be a winnable political campaign.”

I wonder who “they” are?

I wonder what the “winnable political” plan looks like.

Why would Christie want to run against “a very good group of candidates?”

Since I work for the John Whitmire for Mayor Campaign, I will probably never know.

Good luck.

On Buzbee. If the filing deadline is August 21 and the impeachment trial starts on September 5, it is definitely going to raise some eyebrows if he is defending Paxton as a filed candidate for H-Town Mayor. Just saying.  That is way too funny.

_____

It is July 14, 2023, and yesterday MLB released the 2024 schedules.   We play 2 games in Mexico City against the Rockies on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.  We are on the road on Memorial Day (Seattle), Juneteenth (Chicago White Sox), July 4 (Toronto), and Labor Day (Cincinnati).  On Easter Sunday we host the Yankees which caps off four games with the Bronx Bombers on the Opening Day weekend.

I only counted 79 home games instead of the usual 81. Maybe the 2 games in Mexico City are considered home games. I hope they only charge us for 79 games on our season ticket package. I will stay tuned.

We have 71 games left to play this season. 34 at The Yard and 37 roadies. We are in Anaheim tonight.
