Shutdown
Breaking news. California U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein left us. I heard the news this morning on Today. She was 90. She represented California well. Now is not the time to carp about her service the last couple of years.
She has been in the national spotlight for nearly 45 years after San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and fellow Supervisor Harvey Milk were gunned down at San Francisco City Hall. She succeeded Moscone as mayor.
Here is from CNN today:
It was Feinstein who announced the double assassination to the public. She was later sworn in as the first female mayor of San Francisco.
Her political career was marked by a series of historic firsts.
By that time she became mayor in 1978, she had already broken one glass ceiling, becoming the first female chair of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
California’s first woman sent to the US Senate racked up many other firsts in Washington. Among those: She was the first woman to sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the first female chairwoman of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and the first female chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Now let’s see who California Gov. Gavin Newsom names to replace her in the Senate. He will probably name a caretaker or someone who will not run in 2024.

I don’t even know what a GOP shutdown looks like. It does look like it will begin this weekend. The shutdown will be owned by the GOP, pure and simple. It will be called the 2023 GOP Shutdown or something like that.
_____
The GOP did have time to hold a hearing on impeachment yesterday. The GOP said they have the evidence, but their first witness said there was no evidence. What a joke.

It will be an exciting weekend in the AL West for sure. We are in Phoenix fighting for a playoff slot. We will be watching the scoreboard and keeping an eye on the Blue Jays, Mariners, and Rangers. Let’s hope we play well.
Have a nice weekend and I will see you in October.
