Super Hefty Pay Raise
I don’t know about you, but I am with Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo opposing the 38% pay raise for the fella who runs the Toll Roads. See this from the Chron:
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo briefly clashed with fellow members of Commissioners Court on Tuesday over a raise of nearly 40% for Harris County Toll Road Authority Executive Director Roberto Trevino.
Hidalgo raised the issue in a sharp exchange at the tail end of a Commissioners Court meeting, arguing the major pay increase “feels insanely icky.”
The court reclassified Trevino’s position, allowing his pay to be raised by 38% from $350,531 to $485,000, according to county officials.
Here is the entire Chron read: Hidalgo, county commissioners clash over raise for HCTRA director (houstonchronicle.com).
Come on! That’s ridiculous. That is nearly half a million bucks a year to run the toll roads. Maybe they are thanking him for putting the Commissioners in the toll road Christmas TV ads last year. An unnecessary super hefty pay raise.
I wonder if the What’s Your Point crew will address the issue this Sunday and side with Judge Hidalgo. Probably not. The hate for Judge Hidalgo on What’s Your Point is too much for them to take her side.

The dinged up KPRC TV Channel 2 News noon and afternoon anchor Lisa Hernandez returned yesterday to deliver the news. See the featured photo. She was off the air for close to two months. She had knee surgery. She said yesterday she still has to use a crutch. Good to see you back, Lisa.

In order to stand out in the GOP cult, you have to show how dumb you are? See this about former UN Ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley:
Texas has the right to secede from the U.S. if its citizens decide to do so, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley argued on Wednesday — a controversial view that contradicts centuries of established history and precedent. Similar secession efforts infamously led to the Civil War.
But “if Texas decides they want to do that, they can do that,” Haley said in an interview with the radio show “The Breakfast Club.”
“If that whole state says, ‘We don’t want to be part of America anymore,’ I mean, that’s their decision to make,” Haley said, though she also noted, “Let’s talk about what’s reality. Texas isn’t going to secede.”
Asked if she still believes that states generally have the right to secede, a sentiment she expressed on camera during her initial run for governor of South Carolina, Haley said that “states have the right to make the decisions that their people want to make.”
“I believe in state’s rights, I believe that everything should be as close to the people to decide,” she said.
Nikki Haley says Texas can secede from US if it wants but ‘isn’t going to’ (msn.com).
Texas tried the secession thing in February of 1861, and we know how that worked out. I guess she thinks that gets her votes. Dumb as dumb.
It gets even better, err, dumber, here is what she also recently said:
“With Obama, if you go back. That’s when we really started to feel the division. Everything was exaggerated with the Obama administration. It became more about gender, it became more about race, it became more about separating Americans instead of bringing them together. Everybody is at fault. I’m not saying one person did this, but I’m saying under that administration, it really did cause some… You just felt — people felt like they were being put in camps through that administration. The second thing is, he was very much an Iranian sympathizer. He very much kept wanting to do things with Iran. I think that’s incredibly dangerous. This is a culture that says, ‘Death to America,’ and you have to always be careful. A lot of spending happened on his watch that started us down that spiral.”
That’s your GOP cult, folks. Dumb as dumb.

My Beatles wall calendar for February has the four in a 1964 photo at what looks like an airport. Maybe they were fixing to board an airliner to come to America to perform on the Ed Sullivan Show 60 years ago next Friday.
Have a safe weekend.
