Correct Obit

The creep fella that I mentioned yesterday who croaked a week and a half ago has an obit in the Chron today. Here is a part of the obit:

When he was ten years old, Paul (Pressler) accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He began teaching a Sunday School class at the age of seventeen and continued to do so almost without interruption for sixty-four years.

Commentary prefers what the Chron said today on this creep leaving us:

Paul Pressler, a leader of the conservative resurgence within the Southern Baptist Convention and former Houston judge who was accused by several men of sexual abuse, died on June 7.

The Chron article is the correct obit here: Paul Pressler, Southern Baptist leader accused of sex abuse, dead (

See the featured photo of the article and his obit.

This is long overdue. See this from Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Joe Biden on Tuesday will announce a program offering a path to citizenship to hundreds of thousands of immigrants in the U.S. illegally who are married to U.S. citizens, a large-scale legalization effort that contrasts sharply with Republican rival Donald Trump’s plan for mass deportations.

The program, which will roll out in coming months, will be open to an estimated 500,000 spouses who have lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years as of June 17, senior Biden administration officials said in a call with reporters on Monday. Some 50,000 children under age 21 with a U.S.-citizen parent also will be eligible, they said. The majority of people who would likely benefit are Mexicans, they added.

The program will allow the spouses and children to apply for permanent residence without leaving the U.S., removing a potentially lengthy process and family separation. They could eventually apply for U.S. citizenship.

It’s about time. We need to do more.

Sir Paul is 82 today and still going strong.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore

Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I’m sixty-four?

Happy Birthday, Paul!

The Astros are at Guaranteed Rate Field this evening to start a three-game roadie against the White Sox who have the lousiest record in MLB. So, what. That don’t mean squat with these 2024 Astros.
