Childless Gato Vato

Commentary watched President Joe Biden address the nation last night. A very well delivered speech. He put country first.

Not. Too. Smart.

Commentary s talking about that GOP J.D. Vance fella who is running for vice president as Donald Trump’s running mate.

This is now making the rounds. Here is from Yahoo News:

“I’m going to get in trouble for this,” JD Vance warned his audience at the conservative Intercollegiate Studies Institute. “This isn’t being recorded, is it? Broadcast live?”

Three years ago, when his U.S. Senate campaign polled in single digits, Vance told a friendly crowd about an idea he’d been kicking around. Conservatives needed to “take aim” at “the childless left,” whose “rejection of the family” was undermining their country. No one in the “next gen of the Democratic Party” — Vice President Kamala Harris, Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — had biological children at the time.

“Why have we let the Democrat party become controlled by people who don’t have children?” he asked. “Why is this just a normal fact of American life, that the leaders of our country should be people who don’t have a personal and direct stake in it via their own offspring, via their own children and grandchildren?”

Vance knew he was being recorded, and ready when Democrats pounced on his comments. Five days after the speech, he repeated the basic “childless left” message on Tucker Carlson Tonight, the show he’d launched his campaign on. Yes, he’d said that parents of children deserved a bigger role in democracy than the sad “childless cat ladies” of the left, and he meant it. He once again named Harris, a stepmother of two, as part of that group.

“When somebody calls out that ‘Look, if you’re a miserable cat lady, you should not force your misery on the rest of the country,’ they just get really upset about it,” Vance said.

How much of a dumbarse do you have to be to say something like this?

These dumbsh_t remarks got a reaction. See this from CNN:

Jennifer Aniston is criticizing JD Vance for comments he made in his past about women without children.

Aniston shared a screenshot of Vance’s appearance on her Instagram stories, and wrote, “I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States.”

And this:

Aniston — who typically keeps her personal life private, but has publicly spoken about her fertility journey — also wrote about Vance’s far-right stance on reproductive rights.

“All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day,” Aniston wrote on her Instagram stories. “I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

In 2022, Aniston gave rare comments in an Allure cover story, sharing for the first time that she struggled with her fertility and underwent IVF.

And this from Yahoo News:

Doug Emhoff’s ex-wife has fiercely defended Kamala Harris over JD Vance’s sexist comments, after a video of him branding her and other women “childless cat ladies” resurfaced in recent days.

Kerstin Emhoff was married to the second gentleman for 16 years and they had two children — Ella and Cole — together.

The vice president turned presidential candidate embraced the role of stepmother when she wed Emhoff in 2014 and is famously close to the children, co-parenting them alongside Kerstin. Harris has even previously revealed that Ella and Cole gave her the affectionate moniker “Momala” because neither of them liked the name “stepmom.”

Now, Kerstin — who attended Harris’ inauguration as vice president in January 2021 — has leaped to Harris’ defense branding Vance’s attack as “baseless” and calling the vice president a “loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present” co-parent.

“These are baseless attacks,” she said in a statement to CNN.

“For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and I. She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present.”

Kerstin added: “I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it.”

I guess Commentary is a childless gato vato. I don’t have kids and I have a couple of gatos. It is not a regret I have. I just never got around to having kids. I was in a relationship with someone for a number of years and I help raise her kids. I guess that doesn’t count. The featured photo is one of my gatos from a Christmas a few years ago.

This Vance fella must be a complete moron to make this attack. I know a few folks who don’t have kids. It is not my business to ask them why they don’t have kids.

Some folks try to have kids and they just can’t. There are folks like Jennifer Aniston.

And some folks choose not to have kids. That is their choice.

Having or not having kids doesn’t make you less of a citizen or a person.

With these remarks, this Vance fella is going for the complete moron vote who are probably going to vote for Trump anyway.

His words don’t sit well with a ton of folks who don’t have kids. Why make this a line of attack?

Not. Too. Smart.
