Vice President Kamala Harris knocked it out of the park last night. Wow! The right message, tone, and length. Nice job.

Millions more Americans tuned in to watch the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this past week than the GOP convention last month. We all know that Donald Trump is obsessed with TV ratings, so he’s not happy.

The GOP convention was all about worshiping Trump. The DNC was about America. The DNC highlighted the issues important to Americans from abortion to gun violence, to health care, to immigration, to name a few. The DNC also celebrated America’s diversity.

MAGA is getting stale. Joy. She se puede. Yes, she can. Do something. When we fight, we win. We’re not going back. All resonate with Americans.

Those in charge of running the DNC did a great job.

Two veterans caught my attention last night.

This is part of what former GOP Cong. Adam Kinzinger said about his party:

As a conservative and a veteran, I believe true strength lies in defending the vulnerable. It’s in protecting your family. It’s in standing up for our Constitution and our democracy. That, that is the soul of being a conservative. It used to be the soul of being a Republican, but Donald Trump has suffocated the soul of the Republican Party.

His fundamental weakness has coursed through my party like an illness, sapping our strength, softening our spine, whipping us into a fever that has untethered us from our values.

Our democracy was frayed by the events of January 6th, as Donald Trump’s deceit and dishonor led to a siege on the United States Capitol. That day, I stood witness to a profound sorrow: the desecration of our sacred tradition of peaceful transition of power, tarnished by a man too fragile, too vain, and too weak to accept defeat.

And this from West Point grad Cong. Pat Ryan in USA Today:

Rep. Pat Ryan of New York joined the lineup of speakers at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, marking the final evening of a whirlwind four-day event that saw Vice President Kamala Harris accepting her party’s nomination for president.

Ryan, a 42-year-old Iraq War veteran, represents New York’s 18th Congressional District. During his speech at the DNC, he touched on his military service and told the crowd that Harris is the right choice for president because she will support military veterans and troops.

“I’ll tell you what I think of [former President Donald Trump], they told me I can’t say that word on TV, I’m going to use an Army term: FUBAR,” Ryan said.

America won the week. Trump lost.

We beat the Orioles last night. It looks like we might start playing Alex Bregman at first base for some games because of his dinged-up throwing arm elbow. We now have a 5 ½ game lead over the Mariners. It was just over a couple of months ago that the Mariners had a 10-game lead over us. That is why they fired their manager yesterday. 35 games remain on the regular season schedule.
