Joe

The GOP hates it. Commentary is talking about last night’s lovefest at the Democratic National Convention. The GOP can’t handle the love, appreciation, and affection that was on display last night in Chicago. The GOP isn’t capable these days of creating the vibe that we saw yesterday in Chicago.

President Joe Biden knocked it out of the park.

Here is from Newsweek on the President and Vice President Kamala Harris:

After he gave his speech, Kamala Harris went to congratulate him on stage, placing her hands on each of the president’s shoulders, and appeared to say, “I love you.”

In the background, Doug Emhoff, Harris’ husband, can be seen hugging Jill Biden, the First Lady.

Harris and Biden then embraced before Emhoff walked over to Biden to also seemingly share his congratulations.

The clip has been widely circulated across social media.

Independent journalist Aaron Rupar posted the footage in real time, where it has received almost 200,000 views. He re-posted it later with the caption, “normalize telling people you love them. i hardly ever do it outside of my immediate family. but what a nice moment.” It received almost 8,000 likes.

That is genuine. That is something special. That is the real deal.

Donald Trump put a hit out on his vice president.

From the Chron:

CHICAGO – Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo used a speech before a national audience at the Democratic National Convention Monday night to praise President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for always being ready to help Texas during natural disasters.

Hidalgo, in her second term leading Texas’s most populous county, pointed to the 2021 winter storm when millions of Texas were left without power and more than 200 people died.

“Kamala Harris didn’t just send a tweet,” Hidalgo said. “She called me to ensure we had what we needed.”

More recently, during Hurricane Beryl in July, Hidalgo noted that Harris visited in person to make sure federal emergency assistance was getting to the community. Harris made the trip two weeks after the storm hit and shortly after she became the presumptive nominee.

“Kamala Harris cares,” Hidalgo said. “She’ll never put lives at risk for the sake of politics.”

Judge Hidalgo was on message. Good for her.

One of my favorite speeches from last night was USA Men’s Basketball Head Coach Steve Kerr and his night, night gesture. Way too cool.

The featured photo says it all.

Speaking of winners, that was a nice walk-off win last night against the Red Sox. We now have a five-game lead in the AL West.
