Her Experience
Yesterday, “What’s Your Point” panelist, former Harris County GOP Chair Gary Polland made the case for Bexar, Harris, and Travis Counties sending out voter registration applications to non-registered eligible voters. When the subject was raised, Gary said folks could go online and register to vote. My good friend Bill King, also a panelist, corrected Gary and let him know that there is no online voter registration in Texas.
Last week I mentioned the hassle involved in registering to vote in Texas. Gary made my point. He is a former political party county chair. If a former political party county chair is misinformed on how to register to vote in Texas, then we have a voter registration problem and process that is arcane and difficult to navigate. Thanks, Gary.

Rep. Shawn Thierry was a guest on “What’s Your Point” yesterday. She talked about switching to the GOP. Neither she nor moderator Greg Groogan mentioned that 6,640 Democratic Party primary runoff voters helped her make the switch to the GOP when 64.56% of them voted for her opponent, Lauren Ashely Simmons.

When President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris back on July 21, the talking heads on Fox News went after the Vice President saying she was ill prepared, not ready, thin on experience – you get the picture. You know, the woman of color thing. On Friday’s “The Beat,” host Ari Melber did a huge takedown of the Fox talking heads by comparing the Vice President’s experience before and after she was on a national ticket to John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and J.D. Vance. Ari used a series of graphs like the one in the featured photo. It was a great takedown by Ari. Go find her experience on the MSNBC.com website.
On an unrelated note, a few days ago, I ran across an article about how Vice President Harris interacts with her staff. You know, the kind of article that they write about women who run for president and one that they never write about the fellas who run. That is all I am going to say about that.
The Presidential Debate is tomorrow night and Election Day is eight weeks from tomorrow.

Julia Morales handled the play-by-play duties of the Astros-D-Backs televised game this past Saturday that the Astros won 11-5. This was Julia’s second play-by-play game she called this season. Back on May 13, she handled the Astros 9-2 win over the A’s. At the conclusion of Saturday’s game, the production crew put up on the flat screen a graphic saying that Julia’s two play-by-play game calls had produced 20 Astros run. Cool.
Our lead is still 4 ½ games up in the AL West. We took two out of three from the D-Backs this weekend. Justin Verlander lasted three innings last night and gave up eight runs. Ouch. It wasn’t pretty. We lost. We have today off.
