Wicked
61 years ago, today was also on a Friday. I am talking about November 22, 1963. It’s four days I will always remember. At elementary school and learning about the President John F. Kennedy assassination. Going home and watching the coverage on our old black and white TV. The casket returning to Washington, D.C. and lying in state. Newly sworn-in President Lyndon Johnson speaking to a shocked and saddened nation. Jack Ruby gunning down Lee Harvey Oswald on live TV. The National Day of Mourning was on Monday, along with the funeral and John Jr. saluting his father. 61 years ago, today.

Finally. Maybe they read what Commentary had to say recently. See this from the Chron:
The Harris County Sports & Convention Corp. — which oversees the management, operation and development of NRG Park — has approved a study to consider the future of the Astrodome, whether it should be restored or removed.
Kirksey Architecture, a Houston-based firm, has been hired to provide a comprehensive cost-analysis and evaluate best options for the facility.
The goal of HCSCC’s study is to establish two sets of information: Estimate the cost of restoring the Astrodome to basic operational functionality and assess the cost of removing the structure entirely.
The former approach would address necessary improvements such as plumbing and HVAC systems to allows safe occupancy, according to a statement released by HCSCC. It would not include full historic preservation or upgrades to meet modern venue standards.
“The Astrodome has been a symbol of Houston’s innovation and community pride for decades, since 1965,” said Bishop James Dixon, HCSCC chairman via statement. “The data gained from the study will provide us with critical information as we work to determine the most viable path forward, ensuring NRG Park continues to meet the needs of its stakeholders and the public for now and the future.”
Here is the entire read: Harris County announces study to restore or remove the Astrodome.
So, removal, err demolition is officially being reviewed. I wonder how long it will take to complete the review.

I got my Harris County home property tax bill yesterday. Texas homeowners are once again getting a handout from the State of Texas but go on ahead and try to prevent Harris County from giving a handout to our neediest.

“Wicked” opens in movie theaters today. It has gotten a ton of hype. I am hearing it is a great flick that clocks in at 2 hours and 40 minutes. The Chron gives it five out of five stars. I intend to see it. I saw “The Wiz.” I saw “Oz, the Great and Powerful.” I saw “Wicked” on stage. Folks know that “The Wizard of Oz” is my third best flick ever, right behind the first two “Godfather” flicks. Is it fair to compare “Wicked” to “The Wizard of Oz?” Probably not.
I have some “The Wizard of Oz” paraphernalia like the lunchbox in the featured photo, book and page markers, a Scarecrow mask, a couple of books, a tiny Emerald City figurine, the DVD, a CD of the movie soundtrack, photos, a Wicked Witch mint container, a “The Wizard of Oz” monopoly game, and even an autographed photo from one of the Munchkins.

I wasn’t expecting the sleazeball from Florida to give up so quickly. Now that he quit his gig in Congress, where will he land in MAGA world. Actually, he could be sworn-in when the new Congress reports in January. Then the Ethics Committee would have to release their report on his behavior.

Commentary went and got triple vaxxed yesterday. The COVID and flu vaccines in one arm, and the pneumonia vaccine in the other arm. The pneumonia vaccine is a one-time deal. I guess it is a forever vaccine. I am definitely vaxxed up for the season.
