Cousin Caroline

Caroline Kennedy came out with a blistering attack on her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. She calls him a predator. RFK, Jr., is a sick fella. According to Cousin Caroline, this nut job put chickens and mice in blenders. I don’t think it will matter to MAGA Senators. Just sick.

Commentary tries not to comment on the moves the Astros make on their players because I can’t do a darn thing about it.  I will make an exception today. Here is what Astros General Manager Dana Brown told the Chron about trading Ryan Pressly after demoting him last season when we signed Josh Hader:

“I think the relationship took a slightly different turn. Anytime you take a major league player out of a role where they feel comfortable, I think it’s going to fracture your relationship some. I think we continued to communicate. He’s a true professional. And I kept it real as a true professional myself. I think there was some frustration, which I totally understand from a competitor. You’re moving a guy at a position who felt like he didn’t deserve to lose his job, because you acquired another elite closer like a Hader. … I know in his heart of hearts, (Pressly) wanted to close. We’ve had conversations about it. So I would definitely say that things were different, but we kept it professional and we got through it.”

No sh_t. The Cubbies think Pressly is still a closer and that is why they traded for him.  At some point, letting key talent go will have a negative impact. We are less than a month away from Spring Training and Alex Bregman, Ryan Pressly, and Kyle Tucker won’t be wearing the orange and blue. We have less talent going into 2025 than we had in 2024.

The Chron has another article today reporting that the Astros might have Jose Altuve play some left field this season. See the featured photo. Why? A little over 20 seasons ago, the Astros signed Jeff Kent to play second base and moved Craig Biggio to center field. I wasn’t a fan of that move even though Kent had won the NL MVP Award a few seasons earlier. Moving Altuve to left field makes no sense.  Altuve is a second baseman period.
