Luv Ya Blue, Again
This is from an online story:
ESPN is taking heat for its decision regarding the national anthem before Thursday’s Sugar Bowl.
Notre Dame beat Georgia 23-10 earlier today to advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals. The game was delayed almost 24 hours due to the terror attack in New Orleans Wednesday morning which took the lives of 14 people and injured dozens more. Prior to the game, there was a moment of silence and New Orleans native Samyra sang a spirited national anthem.
The problem is, ESPN did not air either part of the ceremony. To be fair, the network did not show the national anthem before the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Fiesta Bowl Tuesday night and also didn’t broadcast it before Monday night’s NFL game in Santa Clara.
ESPN took heat for those decisions though too, and today’s criticism was heightened because of the circumstances leading up to the Sugar Bowl.
It seems like folks ought to be more upset we can’t seem to stop mass murders in the USA. Oh, well.

I guess I am not surprised by this news from the Chron:
Recently-elected Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare filed a motion on Thursday to recuse the Harris County Attorney’s Office from three cases related to the prosecution of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo’s former staffers.
In April 2024, former Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg brought in the Texas Office of the Attorney General to assist in the state’s prosecution of three former aides’ cases. However, Ogg did not formally recuse the district attorney’s office from them at that time.
Thursday’s motion, which Teare’s office announced in a press release, formally requests such recusal and the appointment of the Attorney General as attorney pro tem.
“For years, the worst kind of politics has marred the investigation and orderly administration of justice of these cases,” Teare said in the release. “Despite never having been involved in the prosecution or defense of any of these staffers, our community deserves a DA who not only removes politics from the prosecution of any criminal case, but who will also bend over backwards to avoid even the appearance of any conflict of interest. My hope is that moving forward, these cases will be adjudicated quickly, fairly, and with integrity.”
It is now 2025. The three were indicted in April of 2022. This needs to come to an end if you ask Commentary.

Here we go again. See this from the Chron:
To no one’s surprise, the Tennessee Titans, who are tied for the worst record in the NFL at 3-13, will close out their season by wearing their Houston Oilers’ Luv Ya Blue jerseys against the Texans on Sunday in Nashville.
The Titans — who debuted the Oilers throwbacks last season, including in an overtime loss to the Texans — wore them twice in 2023, but had yet to break them out this season, instead saving them for the finale against their rivals.
The Titans pulled this move on the Texans last season, and we beat them. The featured photo is my Oilers lid.
