Spring Training
The Trib tweeted this yesterday:
Federal immigration agents raided a Los Fresnos bakery, arresting eight undocumented workers and charging the owners with harboring undocumented immigrants.
This occurred in Los Fresnos, Texas, which is in Cameron County in the Rio Grande Valley. Cameron County voted for Donald Trump with 52.4% of the vote. That is what Cameron County voted for, and for less conchas.

Remember when Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick were going to come down hard on CenterPoint after the Hurricane Beryl power outages. Lt. Gov. Patrick demanded the resignation of CenterPoint’s CEO. The Texas Senate even held a hearing on CenterPoint. See this from the Chron:
2024 may have been a difficult year for many of CenterPoint Energy’s Houston-area customers who suffered lengthy power outages, but it was bountiful for the company’s bottom line.
CenterPoint reported a profit of more than $1 billion in 2024, despite widespread outages after the May derecho and July’s Hurricane Beryl. That’s an increase of $152 million from the company’s reported profits in 2023, and similar to its reported profits in 2022.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, CenterPoint reported a profit of $248 million, an increase of $56 million from the same period last year.
Here is the entire read: CenterPoint Energy: More than $1 billion in profits in 2024.
Abbott and Patrick sure did make CenterPoint feel the pain.

I am sure Astros fans have heard that the team wants to have Jose Altuve play some left field this season. If it ends up being Altuve and Yordan Alvarez as the primary left fielders, at least we will have steady offensive production in left field. Jake Meyers, who will play center field, and Chas McCormick, who will play right field, are great defensive players, but have yet to be consistent productive hitters.
The Astros in the featured photo play their first Spring Training game tomorrow against the Nationals.
