Former H-Town Council Member Amanda Edwards just announced she is running for the 18th Congressional District. Here is her statement she posted on Facebook:
I am honored to announce that I am running for Congress. My commitment to this community has never wavered, and I will continue to fight for the opportunities and resources our district needs. We need the next generation of new leaders in Washington to combat Trump’s attacks on jobs, healthcare, and education. The stakes are far too important to stay on the sidelines right now. With unwavering determination, I will work every day to deliver real results for the people I serve. This journey is about all of us—our voices, our future. I hope you’ll stand with me.

Abby Church of the Chron has a story today on the support Christian Menefee is getting in his race for the 18th Congressional District. Here is from her story:
Menefee filed for the seat mere hours after Turner’s funeral in west Houston. His filing for the congressional office, along with his formal campaign announcement, triggered a Texas law that required the county attorney to automatically resign from his position.
Nope. He has not filed because filing for the position has not opened. He filled out his paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission to create his campaign committee.
As of this morning, a special election for the 18th Congressional District of Texas has not been called. We are approaching the deadline for a May 3 election.

Commentary watched on the flat screen yesterday the splashdown in the featured photo. It never gets old, and it is always cool. Picture perfect as they say. I thought the talking heads analysis was interesting. One of the talking heads was a former astronaut and she said the astronauts who returned will smell like 20 years of body odor. Too funny.

The DOGE Dog tweeted this:
We need 60 senators to impeach the judges and restore rule of the people
60 isn’t two-thirds or 67.

From the Astros gear department, see this from the Chron:
The Houston Astros will open their team store inside Daikin Park’s Union Station at midnight tonight and remain open all day Thursday for what the team is calling a special event in which fans can buy “exclusive, new merchandise.”
Although the Astros aren’t being specific, it likely will coincide with the release of the team’s new City Connect uniforms. The team retired the Space City uniforms they wore for Monday night home games the past three seasons and are replacing them with a new version from Nike.
On social media, the Astros dropped a tease Wednesday morning with a post reading, “Mission Brief: 12:00:00. Mission Launch: 00:00:00.” The message was released at 6 a.m. and concluded with a countdown of six hours. In Mission Control talk, that would seem to mean a look at the jerseys will be released at noon (aka, Mission Brief) with the merchandise being sold (Mission Launch) at midnight.
Lance McCullers, Jr., finally got into a game yesterday. He pitched one inning and threw 13 pitches.
In the second MLB game of the regular season, the Dodgers beat the Cubbies today, 6-3. Shohei Ohtani had a dinger in the game played in Tokyo. Kyle Tucker went 1 for 4 for the Cubbies.
