This is what we want to see from our local government. See this from ABC Channel 13 News:

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Harris County officials are expected to announce a preparedness plan Tuesday as concerns grow over the spread of measles.

Judge Lina Hidalgo’s office said that includes updates on vaccination locations.

It comes after the commissioner for the state’s health department, Dr. Jennifer Shuford, noted during a legislative hearing on Monday that the measles case count has increased to at least 158 in the West Texas outbreak.

As of Friday, 146 cases were reported. We’re expecting to learn more about the additional 12 cases during the next health update on Tuesday.

Last week, officials said a school-aged child in the outbreak area died, marking the first measles death in the U.S. in a decade. The child was not vaccinated.

So far, no positive tests have been reported in the Houston area.

“For every one person infected with measles, if they were going to go into a room full of people that were unvaccinated, you could expect 12 – 15 of those people to become infected. It’s extremely contagious,” said Dr. David Persse, City of Houston Chief Medical Officer.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see MAGA State Sen. Paul Bettencourt file legislation to prevent Harris County from doing outreach against the measle outbreak. That is the way MAGA runs these days.

Effective yesterday, Lisa Falkenberg is no longer running the Chron Opinion page. Raj Mankad is now the Interim Opinion Editor. Mankad gave today’s editorial column to Rohnnie Shaw, the executive director of the Texas State Troopers Association for an Op-Ed. Here is the headline of the Op-Ed:

Here is entire Op-Ed on the troopers: To secure our border, Texas must support our State Troopers | Opinion.

Oh, well.

What is the point of folks posting stories about an incident in their life on FB and then don’t finish the story. In the past couple of months, I have read three of those stories and then they abruptly end. No finish to the tale. You don’t get to read about the outcome. What do the authors of posts like these get out of this? It is so stupid.

Our family celebrated my niece’s Rachel’s birthday yesterday by gathering at Mexican Sugar, a kind of new Mexican restaurant on W. Dallas in Montrose. See the featured photo.  Nice appetizers and main courses. Very good grub with reasonable prices. Plus, they carry Saint Arnold Art Car. We had a great time.

Dante, who is standing behind me, has now run 3 marathons. Pretty good for a 25-year-old kid. He will be running marathon number four next month.
