The Chron E-Board today is calling for Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special election to fill the vacancy for the 18th Congressional District of Texas, like quickly. It has been eight days since the passing of former Mayor Sylvester Turner. Let’s hope Gov. Abbott does the right thing and calls an election for May 3, 2025.

Let’s see. Democrats don’t control Congress. A Democrat doesn’t occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And now the GOP wants to blame Democrats for a pending shutdown of the federal government. Sorry, pals, that is not how it works.

The featured photo says it all. MLB marketing went a bit too far with their latest attempt to snag a few more bucks from their loyal fans. The Texas Rangers and LA Angels lids were the most embarrassing. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Well, at least the Astros got it right. See here about the 2025 City Connect uniforms from the Chron:
As the Houston Texans found out a year ago, it’s hard to keep a new uniform a secret in this town.
Almost exactly a year after the Texans’ new uniforms leaked online, the same thing appears to have happened with the Houston Astros’ City Connect uniforms, which are expected to be officially unveiled in the next couple weeks.
The Astros’ first City Connect uniforms, which are produced by Nike, were the Space City navy blue jersey-navy blue pants combination that debuted in 2022. The contract between Major League Baseball and Nike allows teams to swap out their City Connects every three years, so the Astros are trying something new in 2025.
From the look of the leaks online, the new uniform will include white pants, white jersey and white cap, paired with orange socks. The jersey is a bit of a mix of the 1990s Astros logo with the fan favorite Tequila Sunrise colors. The jersey says “STROS” on the front with the star logo the team began using in 1994 and the sleeves are trimmed in the Astros’ blue and orange colors. There’s also a Union Station patch on the sleeve.
