The Dutt Factor

We have a GOP candidate for Harris County Judge. Here is from the Chron:

The mayor of Piney Point Village, a Houston enclave with a population of roughly 3,000, announced Tuesday her intent to run for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo’s seat in the November 2026 election.

Aliza Dutt, a Republican, was elected mayor of Piney Point Village in 2024 with 492 votes, according to the city’s unofficial elections results. Dutt said in a Tuesday news release that public safety, fiscal responsibility and an emphasis on infrastructure are the key pillars of her campaign.

“Harris County is at a crossroads. Voters are tired of rising taxes, rising crime, and rising dysfunction,” Dutt said. “I’m running to restore common sense, protect our families and get government back to doing the basics—safely, efficiently and transparently.”

Here is the entire read: Piney Point mayor to run for Lina Hidalgo’s Harris County judge seat.

The Border Crisis Is Local

The border crisis isn’t just a national issue, it’s hitting Harris County hard. Illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human smuggling strain our resources and put families at risk. Aliza Dutt will support state-led enforcement, back law enforcement, and fight for local control to keep our communities safe.

Obviously, this is meant to reach the MAGA crowd. Law enforcement leaders in Harris County have not put immigration as a top priority.

Local Voices = Local Solutions

Harris County doesn’t need more top-down mandates from Austin and Washington. Aliza Dutt will fight to protect local control, defend first responders, and make sure the people closest to the problems are the ones solving them. Because government works best when it stays close to the people it serves.

I wonder how many times Mayor Dutt has been to the State Capitol up in Austin to support local control.  I wonder how many times she has visited with Sen. Paul Bettencourt to get him off the back of local elected officials.

Mixed messaging for sure.
