Badge of Dishonor

The featured photo was on the editorial page of yesterday’s hard copy of the Chron.  It is a badge of dishonor in my book. Gov. Greg Abbott is probably going to get it framed and have Donald Trump sign it. Sad.

I saw this on Next Door this past weekend:

Cop staking out lighted crosswalk at Krogers on Shephard. In the 15 minutes I was there, I witnessed 3 people get pulled over for not stopping for the pedestrian at the crosswalk.

I hope whoever posted this thinks it is a good thing for folks to get pulled over for not yielding to pedestrians, rather than warning folks to be on the lookout.

I learned something this past weekend. Actor Sam Elliott turned 81 on Saturday. He has been married to Katharine Ross for over 40 years.  She made her bones as Elaine in “The Graduate” back in 1967. She was Etta in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” two years later. Elliott and Ross have been in a few flicks together. Elliott mentioned in a piece I read this weekend that he was also in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” as Card Player #2. That would be in the opening scene of the flick. I went and checked it out and I could not find him. It turns out his image never made the final cut, just his voice – “I’ll take two.” It is a great flick.  Now you know.

On this day in 1929, Babe Ruth became the first ever MLBer to reach the 500-career dinger mark. Ok, since you asked, 28 MLBers have reached the 500-career dinger mark.

_____

Jose Altuve hit career dinger number 250 at Yankee Stadium yesterday.

It is gut check time. We went 4-5 on the roadie and have a half game lead in the AL West. 44 games remain. 22 at Daikin Park and 22 on the road. The Red Sox are in town for three.
