Carlos Correa

It is clear Democrats – locally, statewide and nationally – are on message opposed to the Donald Trump mid-decade redistricting grab-off in Texas.  I can’t say that about MAGA. The current MAGA congressional delegation from Texas is pretty much silent. The MAGA Texas State Senate leader on redistricting said he didn’t think the current 2021 plan was unconstitutional. I told you earlier that the Texas Breitbart fella was opposed to mid-decade redistricting.  Stay tuned.

July, she will fly
And give no warning to her flight

August, die she must

The above is from Paul Simon’s “April Come She Will.”

My Beatles wall calendars for August are a first, sort of. They are both 1967 color photos from a photo shoot for the 45-record sleeve of “All You Need Is Love” and “Baby You’re a Rich Man.” John is wearing a dark blazer, George an orange blazer, Paul in white, and Ringo in a tan colored vest. Cool.

New York City based baseball writer Mark Gooden @TooGooden17 tweeted this:

Cedric Mullins, who wore 31 for his entire career in Baltimore, has asked the Mets to un-retire Mike Piazza’s 31 for him. The Mets have obliged. They are all in. Mullins will wear 31 with the Mets.

I wonder if they asked Hall of Fame great Mike Piazza for permission.

Commentary said this yesterday:

It looks like the dinged-up Isaac Paredes may be out for the season. We made a trade last night for Orioles third baseman Ramón Urías. Urías has a .259 career batting average. In 77 games this season he has 8 dingers and 34 RBIs. He also won the Gold Glove Award in 2022.

It also looks like Jeremy Peña will be back in the line-up tomorrow at Fenway.

I would say that now that we have a third baseman and shortstop, the rumored Carlos Correa trade that was being bandied about yesterday is just that, a rumor.

I was wrong for sure.

I texted this about the Correa trade to my family yesterday:

At least this tells us the Astros want to win it all. I am good with that considering tomorrow they will start deducting my account for 1/3 of next season’s tickets.

Correa said yesterday he was excited to see the players again. He last played in an Astros uniform in 2021.  2021 players still here are Jose Altuve, Jake Myers, Chas McCormick, Yordan Alvarez, Bryan Abreu, Lance McCullers, Jr., Luis Garcia, Christian Javier, and Framber Valdez.

I am looking forward to what the starting line-up looks like with a revamped team this evening at Fenway as we begin a nine-game roadie.

Bringing back Correa has certainly excited Astros fans. KPRC Channel 2 News meteorologist Caroline Brown in the featured photo showed off her enthusiasm this morning with anchor Sofia Ojeda looking on.
