Commentary will post on occasion a featured photo of a Chron hard copy headline like the one today. I didn’t expect to see this one this morning. My Chron hard copy usually arrives on my front yard and sidewalk around 5 am. Today’s hard copy landed around 5 am.

The way they print the Chron hard copy these days, news that happens after 6 pm doesn’t make it in the next day’s Chron hard copy. Not breaking news, not baseball scores, not awards show winners, nada.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo made her announcement to not seek reelection late last night after the Texans football game on ABC Channel 13 News. Her decision is the lead headline in the hard copy this morning. The Texans final score didn’t make the hard copy. Same for the Astros final score from last night.

The only thing that might make sense is the Chron must have asked Channel 13 News for an early look at the interview, and they would agree to hold the news until after the interview aired. Good work by both parties if that was the case.

It looks like MAGA wants to criminalize hate speech. Here is what AG Pam Bondi said yesterday:

“There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech, and there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society…We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.”

What the heck does that mean. If I F U MAGA folks, is that hate speech. Same for I am glad so and so is no longer with us. She is ugly. I am curious as to what penalty they will impose. In 2025, Commentary has said on occasion that is what folks voted for. Folks voted for this wacko sh_t.
