Huge Series

Yesterday, I asked our Democratic leadership in Congress to forcefully respond to the Jimmy Kimmel firing, and milquetoast is what I got. See this:

Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, Caucus Vice Chair Ted Lieu, Assistant Leader Joe Neguse and DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement:

Brendan Carr, the so-called Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, has engaged in the corrupt abuse of power. He has disgraced the office he holds by bullying ABC, the employer of Jimmy Kimmel, and forcing the company to bend the knee to the Trump administration. FCC Chair Brendan Carr should resign immediately.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s war on the First Amendment is blatantly inconsistent with American values. Media companies, such as the one that suspended Mr. Kimmel, have a lot to explain. The censoring of artists and cancellation of shows is an act of cowardice. It may also be part of a corrupt pay-to-play scheme. House Democrats will make sure the American people learn the truth, even if that requires the relentless unleashing of congressional subpoena power. This will not be forgotten.

I am not impressed with this bunch. We might as well be on our own. These guys don’t know how to hit back. I got news for my fellow Democrats, this bunch up in DC don’t have our backs. Sad.

Remember when MAGA got all flustered up when folks had to wear face coverings or masks during the pandemic. Now MAGA is all in on face coverings and masks for those carrying out the ICE raids. Got it.

I got this email from my State Senator Molly Cook yesterday:

I’ll be blunt: what Democrats have been doing in Texas isn’t working.

We’ve played by the old rules while Republicans make up new ones as they go. They silence debate, gerrymander districts, strip away rights — and we’ve been stuck playing defense.

That has to change. If you agree with me, please consider making a donation to build better Democratic infrastructure that can go on the offense and win.

I believe the future of Texas depends on bold, young leadership that’s willing to call things like they are and fight with everything we’ve got. Not just to slow Republicans down, but to actually build power and deliver change.

Because if all we do is play defense, we’ll lose. And Texans cannot afford more of the same.

I ran for office to prove that a different kind of leadership is possible — rooted in organizing, showing up for communities, and refusing to accept that what we’re doing now is the best we can do. But I can’t do it without you.

If you’re tired of the old playbook, make a donation to help me change how we do politics.

I would like to see her offensive playbook.

Let’s see. A MAGA Governor appoints all the Texas A&M Board of Regents. The MAGA appointed Board of Regents hire a retired four-star general to serve as president of Texas A&M. Then the president is run off the campus because he is not true MAGA wacko crazy or something like that.

Former State Rep. Jarvis Johnson is looking at running in the redrawn 29th Congressional District.

Andrew White is running for Governor in the Texas Democratic Party primary.

I can’t remember the last time the Astros hosted a key series this late in the regular season. Heck, it is our final regular season homie. Commentary is talking about Astros versus Mariners at Daikin Park this weekend. See the featured photo. We are both tied for first place in the AL West. We both have 9 games left on the regular season schedule. The difference is after this series we go on the road for our final six games against the A’s and Angels while the Mariners go home to Seattle to host the Rockies and Dodgers.

A huge series at Daikin Park this weekend.
