Misplayed

The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.

An NBC Special News Report just broke to announce a shooting occurred at an ICE detention center in the Dallas area. Two ICE detainees were killed, and no law enforcement officers were injured. We really don’t know the shooter’s intentions.

Andrew White just tweeted he is running for governor as an independent Democrat. He said he will focus on getting things done, not the culture wars.

I get what he is saying, but I really don’t think you can sidestep the culture wars these days.

Mail ballots for the November 2025 general election will be going out soon in Harris County. I will get to vote for my member of congress here in the CD 18 Special Election, the state constitutional amendments, and for my Houston City College Trustee – it used to be Houston Community College. Since MAGA controls the Texas Legislature, I will have to closely review the constitutional amendments. The featured photo is part of the sample ballot for Harris County.

We lost actress Claudia Cardinale recently. She was in “The Professionals” with Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, and Jack Palance and in “Once Upon a Time in the West” with Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, and Jason Robards. Both flicks came out in the 1960s. Maybe they will play the beautiful and haunting theme from “Once Upon a Time in the West” at her funeral.

A routine infield pop fly by the A’s was misplayed by the Astros in the first inning last night and a run scored. Why was pitcher Christian Javier even in the vicinity. He needs to let his infielders handle those pop ups. That play could pretty much define this season.

With five games left to play, it is not looking good.
