On Grief
Someone close to me lost a loved one a couple of days ago. I reached out to her, and we just talked. About grief. I have dealt with grief. She is now dealing with it. I mention this because Sheinelle Jones made it back to Studio 1A on “Today” this morning. Sheinelle took some time off at the beginning of the year to help her husband Uche Ojeh deal with cancer. Uche died this past May.
Before Sheinelle walked onto the set, “Today” aired an interview with Sheinelle that was conducted by Savannah Guthrie. The interview is powerful and emotional. Morning TV at its best. Sheinelle talked about how she deals with her grief and her journey with her husband during his last few months. She addressed how she is processing what she termed her “beautiful nightmare.”
It was certainly a display of candor and courage on national TV. Go to the “Today” website to check out the interview. It is that good. The featured photo is Sheinelle with Al, Craig, and Dylan on the “3rd Hour of Today” this morning.

Two items here. First from the internet:
U.S. hiring slowed further in August as President Donald Trump’s aggressive trade, immigration and federal layoff policies took a widening toll on a rapidly softening labor market.
Employers added a disappointing 22,000 jobs and the unemployment rate rose from 4.2% to 4.3%, the highest level since October 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Sept. 5.
And this observation from Commentary:
The nutjob RFK, Jr. would not acknowledge at a U.S. Senate hearing yesterday that a million folks died by COVID-19 in the USA and the national news coverage pretty much let him off the hook. Nutjobs like RFK, Jr. have some folks believing that all that we lived through a few years ago – the COVID-19 deaths reported by hospitals and local governments, the hospitalizations, respirators, and N95 masks – were all a part of some gigantic conspiratorial hoax.
This is what American voted for ten months ago.

The City of H-Town will be testing an alert system at 11 am this morning. I don’t know if I want to be out in a crowd when the alert goes out.

We are down to 21 games. We have the next 3 games in Arlington, then 3 in Toronto, followed by 3 in the ATL before we return to Daikin Park for our final homie. Our lead is now 3 ½ games in the AL West. This is what it is all about.
