Cheating, crooked Ken Paxton tweeted this yesterday.

BREAKING: I’m launching undercover operations to infiltrate and uproot leftist terror cells in Texas. Leftist political terrorism is a clear and present danger. There can be no compromise with those who want us dead.

Gov. Greg Abbott, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, and Cong. Wesley Hunt have been derelict in their duty. These three have been holding back on letting us know about “leftist terror cells in Texas.” Instead of sending the Texas National Guard to Illinois, Gov. Abbott should deploy them in Texas to go after the “leftist terror cells.”

And why would you publicly announce plans to launch an undercover operation. It would seem like one would want to keep this under wraps. What a moron. What a joke.

This story on the City of H-Town financial picture is on the front page of today’s Chron hard copy and here is how it starts:

As Mayor John Whitmire passed a $7 billion budget complete with cuts, a voluntary retirement program and consolidations this summer, he issued somewhat of a warning to his colleagues on the City Council.

“We need to now talk to constituents going forward about what type of city they want to live in,” Whitmire said.

For years, city spending has consistently outpaced its revenue, pushing Houston to the edge of a financial cliff.

Houston will need to close an estimated $227 million deficit in the budget Whitmire presents next May, city finance department leaders estimate. And if spending keeps tracking as it has, Houston could see as much as a $463 million deficit by the 2030 fiscal year.

Next year’s projected budget gap is nearly as much as Houston will spend this year on its solid waste, library and parks departments combined.

City officials are now left with a consequential decision: Find new revenue, or cut spending and risk diminishing city services, or some of both.

Whitmire has not announced a plan to close the city’s looming deficits and has not committed to any new revenue sources. His plan, so far, does not involve raising taxes. City Council will vote Wednesday to set a hearing on the mayor’s proposal to keep the tax rate flat at about 52 cents per $100 of valuation on the Oct. 15 agenda.

Here is the entire Chron read: Houston could have a $227M deficit in 2027 without new revenue.

The mayor is obviously exploring all options before he asks us, the taxpayers, to cough up more in property taxes or new fees. There is nothing wrong with this approach.

“Goodbye to my Juan, goodbye Rosalita”

Are from the tune “Plane Wreck at Los Gatos (Deportee)” by Woodie Guthrie.

The Chron E-Board take today is on immigrants and the ICE crap.  The take mentions the Guthrie tune and his lyrics about farmworkers who die in a plane wreck who are now “all scattered like dry leaves.”

Yep.

“Adios mis amigos, Jesus y Maria.”

I will say it again. That is what folks voted for last year.
