Rainbow Connection
The rainbow is not going away anytime soon. “Over the Rainbow” is one of the best tunes of all time. The best movie tune of all time for sure.
Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I’ve heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare dream,
Really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
Away above the chimney tops,
That’s where you’ll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?
This is from the Chron today:
Houstonians took it upon themselves to draw in their own rainbow crosswalk in Houston’s Heights neighborhood Monday, as Metro removed a rainbow crosswalk in the Montrose area due to a threat of lost road funding from Gov. Greg Abbott.
Metro removed the crosswalk at the intersection of Westheimer and Taft in the early hours of Monday morning, with some protesters arrested by Houston police as a construction crew started restriping the intersection.
But that didn’t stop residents in a Heights neighborhood from showing support for the rainbow crosswalk, which has been a symbol LGBTQ+ pride and social movements for years.
A rainbow crosswalk drawn in with chalk could later be seen at the intersection of Harvard and 10th streets as of 3:20 p.m. Monday.
Anna Eastman, who lives near the intersection, said she started a rainbow drawing nearly two weeks ago, but completed the entire intersection at 3 a.m. Monday.
Eastman’s neighbor, Mariia Pasichnyk, was walking her son Efat home Monday afternoon when she took a photo of him before crossing it.
“It’s vibrant,” Pasichnyk said. “It just makes it look happy.”
Anna of course is a former elected official and a good friend of mine. I am not surprised she drew a rainbow down the street from her home. She certainly has a rainbow connection. This certainly won’t be the last rainbow in H-Town.
This is from “She’s a Rainbow” by the Stones:
She comes in colors ev’rywhere
She combs her hair
She’s like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
She comes in colors ev’rywhere
She combs her hair
She’s like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
Now that is what I call a rainbow connection.
I don’t think Donald Trump toady Abbott will ever get over the rainbow connection.

This tweet from @OptaSTATS:
This will be the 48th World Series since the Mariners began play in 1977. They haven’t played in any of them.
No other MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL franchise all-time has gone that long to begin the franchise’s history without reaching the championship round while remaining in the same city.
#SpringerDinger is back in the World Series. Good.
