Big Day

We will find out soon what the Supreme Court will decide on the racist mid-decade gerrymander here in Texas. For sure, before the December 8 filing deadline.

We had a train derailment in H-Town’s East End a few days ago. I saw the images on TV. Lucky for everyone, the tank cars were empty, and nobody was injured. An apartment building sits about fifteen yards from the train tracks near the derailment. In looking at the images on local TV news, it got me to thinking. The train tracks have been there forever. Who in the heck thinks it is a good idea to build an apartment complex next to train tracks. It happens all the time in H-Town.

This really isn’t a new thing. See this from the Chron:

In time for the holiday season, Baybrook Mall now has a paid-parking area for the influx of seasonal shoppers.

“A majority of the parking lot at Baybrook Mall remains free to shoppers, with a small portion designated as Preferred Paid Parking,” according to Baybrook Mall’s website under parking and valet.

Baybrook Mall is owned by Brookfield Properties and the paid-parking area is managed by the 12 Oaks company. The paid-parking area is enforced each day of the week and around the clock, according to mall information.

Parking under an hour in the preferred lot is $2.45 up to $10.45 for four-plus hours. Currently Baybrook Mall is the only Houston mall owned by Brookfield with preferred parking. Two other San Antonio shopping destinations owned by Brookfield are listed with preferred parking as well as locations in other states.

Here is the entire Chron read: Baybrook Mall now has a paid-parking area. Here’s how to use it.

I maybe go to a mall once or twice a year. If I am out Christmas shopping and have an item in my car, I would consider using a paid lot if it decreases the chances of car break-ins.

There were eight of us at our Thanksgiving Day dinner yesterday. I found out that there will only be four of us that will be celebrating Christmas in less than four weeks. That will be the fewest ever for me. I am ok with that, I guess.

It is a big day for TV watching. Two new Hallmark Christmas movies later this afternoon and the Aggie-Longhorn matchup this evening.

The featured photo is from parade coverage on “Today.” Yesterday’s parade was a good one with a great opening by Cynthia Erivo.
