Clean Sweep
It was a great night for Democrats across the USA. Just look at that Texas State Senate Special Election up in Tarrant County.
Here is a sorry arse headline of the Politico webpage this morning:
Republicans try to turn national Democratic candidates into Mamdani copycats.
Here is a sub headline that I prefer:
Democrats didn’t just rebound. They dominated.
I like how Savannah Guthrie led off “Today” this morning:
“Clean sweep”
If we are going to acknowledge the results of November 2024, then we must acknowledge the results of November 2025.
California, New Jersey, New York City, and Virginia were all resounding wins for Democrats.
Here in H-Town, my preferred candidates did a-okay. Amanda Edwards is at 25.55%, behind Christian Menefee at 28.89% in the CD 18 Special. In At-Large 4, Alejandra Salinas is at 21.21%, followed by Dwight Boykins at 20.06%.
The Salinas-Boykins runoff will be next month on Saturday, December 13.
The Edwards-Menefee runoff will be held early next year.
Now here is where it gets a bit confusing. While Edwards and Menefee fight it out over the next couple months or so, Cong. Al Edwards will get into the redrawn CD 18 Democratic Party Primary that will be held on March 3, 2026. Edwards and Menefee will have to decide how to conduct runoff and early primary campaigns simultaneously. Got it?
Cy-Fair ISD MAGA candidates took a hit last night as the pro-public education slate led. Stay tuned on this one.
The California results last night on redistricting happened because dumbarse MAGA Gov. Greg Abbott let himself get toadied by Donald Trump.
Looks like Trump and the MAGA brand is off brand, even in the Lone Star State.
My Amanda sign in the featured photo will stay up for a while. Hopefully through March 3, 2026. I got to get me an Alejandra sign.

My Beatles wall calendar for the month of November has the four in a black and white shot from 1965 with George and John wearing white turtlenecks and Paul and Ringo wearing black turtlenecks. The other calendar is the 45-record sleeve for “A Hard Day’s Night” and “Things We Said Today” from 1964.
