Special Runoff Vote
My H-Town City Council At-Large 4 Special Runoff Election mail ballot hit my mailbox yesterday and I am ready to send it in for Alejandra Salinas as in the featured photo. I will take it to the post office today.
Election Day is three weeks from tomorrow (Saturday, December 13) and Early Voting in Person starts in 10 days (Monday, December 1). Around 4,700 City of H-Town voters sent in mail ballots for the November 4 election. Vote early, please.

Here we go again. See this from the Trib today:
Two weeks before Election Day, Gov. Greg Abbott stopped by a barbecue joint in Harris County to rally voters, sharing his two goals for next year’s midterm election. The first is to win his own race, returning him to the governor’s mansion for a fourth term.
The second is to flip Harris County.
“I’ve got $90 million in my bank account, and I’m going to spend most of it in Harris County, Texas to make sure, precinct by precinct, we turn out voters who voted in the presidential election, turn out voters who never voted before,” Abbott said. “We got to win Harris County and make Harris County dark red.”
And this:
All this gives Harris County GOP Chair Cindy Siegel hope, albeit a bit dimmed after this month’s Democratic wins. It won’t be simple for either party, she said, acknowledging that defending a struggling economy with a Republican in the White House will be a challenge. But, she added, the party will focus on the local level and what local elected officials can control.
“We think that there’s an opportunity,” Siegel said. “It’s going to be a hard-fought race.”
Here is the entire Trib read: Greg Abbott vows to spend mightily to turn Harris County red.
Let’s see. According to the latest UT poll, 54% of Texans think Texas is on the wrong track and 50% disapprove of Abbott’s job performance. Voters just gave Abbott’s Cy Fair ISD school board candidates an arse whipping. Not to mention the possibility that crooked, cheating Ken Paxton could very well be on the top of the MAGA ballot in 2026.
Plus, the fella that leads MAGA put out a hit yesterday on Democratic members of congress. Nope.

Looking for some ballpark Christmas cheer. See this from the Chron:
The Astros are introducing a new holiday attraction at Daikin Park. Astros Light Up the Park opens Nov. 22 and runs through Jan. 4, bringing an illuminated walk-through and other seasonal features to the ballpark.
The event adds another Houston option during a time when light displays and winter attractions draw large crowds across the city. At Daikin Park, visitors will see baseball-themed light installations and family activities arranged throughout the stadium.
According to the official event page, the attraction is “designed for people of all ages” and promises “a magical blend of lights, sounds and holiday joy with an Astros twist.” Guests will follow a route of lights and music that moves through the concourse, continues to the service level and ends with a walk across the field. Photo opportunities with Astros Santa and Orbit will be available, and Orbit will appear on Monday nights. A festive menu developed with Aramark will offer hot chocolate, cookies and other holiday treats. The Astros Team Store will also carry limited-edition holiday merchandise and gift items.
Several themed nights are planned during the run, including Military Appreciation Night on Dec. 3, Ugly Sweater Night on Dec. 6, Date Night on Dec. 13, Family Movie Night on Dec. 20 and Pajama Night on Dec. 29. The Hader Toy Drive will take place Nov. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m., with donations benefiting BEAR, also known as Be A Resource.
Tickets are priced from $20 to $45 and are available through the MLB website. Add-on options include Santa and Orbit photos, face painting and other upgrades.
The team also sent me an email announcing team Christmas gear will go on sale at Daikin Park tomorrow. I have regular Christmas gear and Beatles Christmas gear, so maybe I will go check out the team Christmas gear.
Have a safe weekend.
