Christmas Week
This does not surprise Commentary. If Cong. Jasmine Crockett is indeed winning 9 out of every 10 African American voters in the race for U.S. Senate in the Texas Democratic Party primary, State Rep. James Talarico is going to have to win big in South Texas. See this headline in today’s Chron:
James Talarico seeks to carve out Democratic edge in South Texas
Here is the story: James Talarico seeks to carve out Democratic edge in South Texas.
The article is also on the front page of today’s Chron hard copy and focuses on an event with South Texas congressional candidate Bobby Pulido who the Chron describes as a “rising Democratic star.” The article mentions that 900 folks attended the event in Weslaco. Nice crowd.
On the Chron headline, Talarico is going to need more than an “edge” in South Texas.

Folks know by now how I get my news. I don’t rely on CBS News, so I don’t need to comment on the latest with “60 Minutes.” What a waste.
_____
I saw this in the Daily Beast:
Sean Ono Lennon said he has taken on a greater role in caring for his 92-year-old mother Yoko Ono’s legacy as she has settled into a quieter phase of life.
“She’s slowed down a lot, and she’s retired,” Lennon said about Yoko Ono in an interview with Anthony Mason for CBS Sunday Morning.
“She lives in Upstate New York, so I see her half the year,” Lennon said about his mother.
According to a biography about Ono written by David Sheff, the Japanese artist currently lives in seclusion on a 600-acre rural farm in upstate New York and has stepped away from the public spotlight.
“She believed she could change the world, and she did…now she is able to be quiet—listen to the wind and watch the sky,” said her daughter Kyoko Ono Cox, 62, in an interview featured in the book.
Her son explained as his mom enjoys her new chapter, he’s taken over his mother’s role as custodian of his father, John Lennon’s, legacy.
I hope Yoko is doing well and I wish her the best. She is a terrific person.

The Philadelphia Boys Choir was performing on the “Today” plaza this morning and there were girls in the choir singing. Huh? It turns out there is also a Philadelphia Girls Choir and they sometimes perform together. Got it?
_____
Interesting stat I saw on “Today” this morning. 89% of Americans have watched “Home Alone.” NBC business news correspondent Brian Cheung, who provided the stat this morning, is in the 11%.
