KPRC Channel 2 News Latinas
Folks know that Commentary watches KPRC Channel 2 News to start off my days. I have been watching it like forever. I also watch it during the day when time allows. KPRC Channel 2 has a stellar record of showcasing Latinas in the local news business. Sofia Ojeda and Daniella Guzman are co-anchors in the morning – see the featured photo. Lisa Hernandez anchors the 4 pm newscast. Cathy Hernandez handles the weekend morning anchor duties. Now see what KPRC Channel 2 put out a couple of days ago:
HOUSTON – Stephania Jimenez, an accomplished journalist with nearly two decades of experience, will join KPRC 2 as our evening main anchor for the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, effective January 19, 2026.
Jimenez comes to KPRC 2 from KSAT in San Antonio, a fellow Graham Media Group station, where she anchored the station’s flagship Nightbeat broadcast and became one of South Texas’s most trusted and recognizable news voices. Known for her calm authority, clarity in breaking news, and deep connection to the community, Jimenez also focuses on the issues people care about most, holding leaders accountable while keeping the focus on those most affected.
“Stephania is the kind of journalist viewers immediately trust,” said Ana Lastra, News Director at KPRC 2. “She brings credibility, warmth, and a deep respect for the audience, and she isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions on their behalf. Her experience leading major newscasts, combined with her connection to diverse communities, makes her a perfect fit for Houston and for the future of KPRC 2 News.”
She began her career after graduating from Syracuse University, working behind the scenes as a producer and writer at Fox News Radio in New York City before moving into on-air roles. Her career includes anchor and reporting positions at KTSM in El Paso, KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, NBC Connecticut, and NBC10 in Philadelphia.
“Houston is a city with energy, heart, and incredible stories,” Jimenez said. “I’m honored to join the KPRC 2 team and continue doing the kind of journalism that serves people, asks the questions they’re asking at home, and reflects the communities we live in.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jimenez is bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing her to connect authentically with a broad range of audiences.
Throughout her career, she has been recognized for storytelling that is clear, compassionate, and grounded in the real impact news has on everyday life, especially when it comes to issues that affect families, neighborhoods, and everyday decision-making.
Nice job, Channel 2 and welcome to H-Town, Stephania!

The College Football Playoffs (CFP) start this evening. Today and tomorrow, we can root for the Aggies, Crimson Tide, Ducks, Dukes, Green Wave, Hurricanes, Rebels, and Sooners. Dukes?
Former college coaching great and current commentator Nick Saban has a problem with the James Madison Dukes making the CFP. The Dukes play in the Sun Belt Conference. As long as we have a college football national champion, we are going to have a debate like the one Coach Saban is engaging in. We had it when the AP selected, when there were a two-team, four-team, and now twelve-team format. Get over it, Coach, and enjoy the games.
