Provisional Ballot Process

Former H-Town City Council Member Letitia Plummer beat former H-Town Mayor Annise Parker last night. The Plummer win is being called an upset. Here is what I said right after the March 3 Democratic Party primary:

In the runoff for Harris County Judge, Plummer could be aided by several local runoffs with African American candidates. First and foremost is the new gerrymandered CD 18 that (no) longer has my neighborhood.

The State Board of Education District 7 runoff has an African American candidate. The HD 131 runoff has two African Americans. The HD 149 runoff has one. The Harris County District Clerk runoff has one and the 209th State District Judge runoff has one.

Clearly an advantage for Plummer, just saying.

Pay attention. Sometimes I know what I am talking about. Just saying.

I really wasn’t surprised with who won the runoffs. I was more taken aback by the blowouts in some races like the Cong. Christian Menefee 64% to 36% in Fort Bend County over Cong. Al Green and the cheating, crooked Ken Paxton 64% to 36% win over U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in Texas. Alex Mealer also put a trouncing on lightweight State Rep. Briscoe Cain in CD 9.

I waited until around 5 pm to vote yesterday. Since I was going to vote via a provisional ballot, I opted to go to the bingo hall in the Heights, rather than a pop-up election day location. I figured the folks at this location would be the most experienced. I was directed to the provisional ballot desk, and they handed me paperwork to fill out. I was given a ballot and after I marked my candidates, I printed my ballot and took it to the clerk where they had me fold it and put it in an envelope. I then inserted the envelope into a special provisional ballot box. Voila, the provisional ballot process was as smooth as you can get. Nice job, folks.

The Harris County Elections Department will let me know by mail within 30 days if my ballot was accepted or declined.

We fell behind the Rangers last night in Arlington after giving up 8 runs in the first inning. We ended up losing 10-7. Our record is now 24-32.
