USA

Let’s see. Corpus Christi has a water shortage crisis. Data centers are sucking off critical resources. Health insurance costs are putting a hurt on Texas businesses. The screwworm is still out there. Housing affordability must be addressed. And then there is this from the Trib:

State lawmakers are exploring prohibiting foreign nationals from using Texas surrogates, elevating a niche fertility issue into a larger battle over immigration and birthright citizenship, surrogacy experts say.

The Texas Senate health committee will hear testimony on Wednesday about potentially banning foreign nationals from contracting with Texas surrogates to have children, after Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick made examining the issue an interim charge for the chamber ahead of the legislative session that starts in January.

You can always count on MAGA on prioritizing issues important to Texans. Sad and pitiful.

I will just add the featured photo from last Saturday’s coverage of the fireworks in New York City.

From Roll Call:

As a chorus of Democrats demanded he withdraw from the race, Graham Platner, the Democratic nominee for Senate in Maine, said Monday that he was “taking time to reflect on the best path forward” as he denied a Politico report that he had sexually assaulted a woman he previously dated.

“Regardless of the inaccuracy of the reporting but mindful of the political reality it will inflict, we are taking the time to reflect on the best path forward for the state that I love, the people that I love, the movement I belong to, and the goal of defeating Susan Collins,” Platner said in a video posted Monday to social media.

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who leads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, called the allegations “incredibly disturbing – violence, abuse and sexual assault are absolutely unacceptable.”

“Graham Platner needs to immediately withdraw as the Democratic nominee for Senate and allow Maine Democrats the opportunity to choose a new candidate who can defeat Susan Collins,’’ Schumer and Gillibrand said in a statement. “The DSCC will not invest in the Maine Senate race if Platner remains on the ballot.”

Maine resident Jenny Racicot told Politico that Platner, with whom she had an “on and off relationship,” forced her to have sex with him after arriving at her home intoxicated in late 2021. He entered her home uninvited and allegedly assaulted her, ignoring her repeated requests to stop, she said.

I have said it before. Democrats take the moral high ground. MAGA couldn’t find the moral high ground, even if you put it right in front of MAGA. Democrats call out disgusting and unacceptable behavior. MAGA enthusiastically embraces it. Don’t bother arguing with me about this.

Hopefully, this Platner dirtbag drops out of the race.
