We all know that trust in local, statewide, and national news organizations has plummeted due to the attacks from Donald Trump and MAGA. If Trump and MAGA don’t like news coverage, they call it fake news and lies. As a result, both local and national news viewership on the broadcast level has dropped dramatically. Here in H-Town, it looks like KPRC Channel 2 News may be taking a different approach to their 10 pm news broadcast. This is what KPRC Channel 2 News put out a few days ago:

Starting September 13, KPRC 2 News is making a new commitment to accountability journalism — digging deeper into the issues affecting Houstonians and pushing for answers about what’s working, what isn’t and what happens next.

• Why hasn’t this been fixed?
• What happens next?

And sometimes, the question is even simpler: Does this actually work?

As ENOUGH launches, our journalists are taking on questions that could shape Houston and Texas for years to come.

Texas is investing in Texas Education Freedom Accounts, which some call school vouchers. What can we learn from a state that’s already tried them?

We’ll look at the new Texas program and travel to Arizona, where school vouchers have been in place for years, to examine what’s working, what isn’t and what Texans should know.

Houston to Dallas by high-speed train — is it ever actually going to happen?

It’s been discussed for years. We’ll examine where the project stands, what’s holding it back and whether Texans should still expect to see it become reality.

Houston’s growth comes with a cost. Who’s paying it?

From the rapid expansion of data centers to the ground literally sinking beneath parts of our region, we’ll examine how decisions being made today could affect Houston for decades.

We’ll also investigate questions surrounding public safety technology, Houston’s new administrative fee tied to garbage pickup, protections for historic properties and accountability for CenterPoint customers.

And these are only the beginning.

Getting an answer isn’t always the same as getting a solution.

ENOUGH will keep following the issues that matter to Houstonians, asking what changed, what didn’t and whether promises made become promises kept.

Because sometimes the first answer isn’t the full answer.

Check this out from the Trib and MAGA Gov. Greg Abbott’s lame response:

Minnesota leaders on Tuesday sued Gov. Greg Abbott to force the extradition of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who is accused of injuring a Venezuelan man in Minneapolis earlier this year and lying about the circumstance leading up to the shooting. 

The federal lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of Texas, is the latest step in a monthslong effort by Minnesota officials to take custody of 52-year-old Christian Castro, who faces four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime.

Federal law requires states to cooperate on extradition requests, according to the lawsuit.  

“Abbott’s refusal to extradite Castro is unconstitutional and violates federal law and Texas law,” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said in a statement. “I will not stand for that, so I’m taking Abbott to court.”

Abbott’s office initially declined to comment on “pending extradition matters.” But when asked about the lawsuit during an unrelated news conference on Tuesday, the governor was dismissive. 

“While they’re making demands, I got a demand of my own and that is: It’s time for Minnesota to step up and repay the United States of America and Americans for all the fraud that they have committed in their state under federal programs,” Abbott said. “I will not respond to them at all until they step up and do what’s right, and they acknowledge their fault in the fraud that took place, and they fully repay the United States of America for the fraud they committed.”  

Talk about apples and oranges. A lame excuse for sure. Abbott is a punkarse, pathetic fella.
