Christmas Creep

Nope. I am not talking about running into Bo French at the H-Town Downtown parade on Thanksgiving Day.

“Today” did a segment this morning on some retailers already putting out the Christmas deals. See the featured photo. It is called Christmas Creep.

Let’s see. Last week was Labor Day. We still have Halloween and Thanksgiving next month and the next. Today is Diez Y Seis de Septiembre, so you are not getting a Feliz Navidad out of me this morning.

Let’s wait until the Hallmark Channel starts going in full mode with their Christmas flicks next month.

The Kennedy Center is closing because Donald Trump can’t put his name on it. I will say it again. That is what folks voted for two years ago. Hope you are enjoying your visit to the gas pump.

The phrase “can of corn” is from baseball. It is when a batter hits a pop-up or routine flyball that will be caught. When it is hit, you just kind of automatically say “can of corn” at the sure out.  Last night, late in the game, a Royals batter hit a routine fly ball to right field, and as I said, “can of corn,” I heard a young voice a couple of seats down from me call out “can of corn” at the same time. I looked over and it was a little girl, 7 or 8 years old, in Astros gear armed with a baseball glove. I asked her to repeat what she said and she replied with “can of corn.” I asked her who taught her the phrase, and she told me her dad. She went on to say that she has been using the phrase for a couple of years now. A very young and astute baseball mind. Very cool. She made last night’s win even more enjoyable.
