Racism, Plain and Simple
I was at the Texans game yesterday. See the featured photo. It wasn’t until I got home that I saw the latest from the racist arsehole MAGA candidate for Railroad Commissioner. MAGA on full display.
When I first saw the photo, I thought it was cool that kids were wildly enthusiastic about the Longhorn comeback win Saturday night. Then I saw the racist caption.
The kids were just having a great time.
Here is how some in MAGA responded.
Former Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan:
As a Longhorn, this person is unfit for office.
As a Republican, this person is unfit for office.
As a human being, this person is unfit for office.
And as an Irish lad, many had similar thoughts about us years ago.
We had a better choice back in May.
Phelan chose not to run for reelection

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn:
This is the Republican nominee for statewide office.
Are other Republican elected officials going to condemn the intolerance and racism, or look the other way while it becomes normalized.
This is how great political parties self-destruct. Sad.
Cornyn lost to cheating, crooked Ken Paxtpon in the MAGA primary a few months ago.

This one from Texas State Rep. Drew Darby is spot on:
This is racism, plain and simple.
I have served on the Energy Resources Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Railroad Commission, for most of my tenure in the Texas House, and I have never seen conduct so unbecoming of a Railroad Commissioner or candidate in that time.
The right thing to do is immediately delete this and issue an apology.
If not, I would remind any candidate that the Texas Legislature has granted the Railroad Commission broad discretion in carrying out its duties — because we have trusted the competence and fairness of those who serve. That trust can be revisited.
If Mr. French wants to regulate immigration policy, he should have run for Congress.

I condemn racism in all its forms, including James Talarico saying white men are America’s top terror threat and that he prays to overcome his own ‘whiteness,’ whatever that means. Only one person in this race has a history of dividing Texans by race, and it’s James Talarico. I will continue to focus on uniting our State and bringing together the broadest possible coalition to fight for Texas, our values, and our families.
What a knucklehead dumbarse.

This arsehole should not be in office is the appropriate response.
Think about it. This past summer, MAGA Gov. Greg Abbott invited this racist to the Governor’s Mansion for a photo op.
With a few exceptions, MAGA is going full embracing of racism.

We got swept at Tampa Bay this weekend. We are 75-75 and have a 1 game lead in the AL West. We have today off. That is all I have to say about this.
