Neighborhood Traffic
Everyone knows Commentary lives in the Heights. There are quite a few traffic changes going on in these parts. I have seen the 11th Street redo to single lanes. The 11th Street redo has a lot of folks a tad upset. That is why I won’t post this on Next Door.
On Heights and 11th Streets, you can’t make a left turn to 11th Street if you are going down Heights Boulevard in either direction.
At that same intersection, a concrete barrier has been erected that blocks off the right lane on Heights Boulevard in each direction. I wonder why?
There is also major construction happening on North Shepherd and Durham that I avoid.
At the 14th Street at Yale Street intersection, they have created a left turn only lane in both directions on 14th. I didn’t think we needed this.
There must be good reasons for the major alterations to traffic flow in my neighborhood. It is just a lot more to process in trying to navigate going to the grocery store, post office, and to the other side of I-10.

Today is National Bootlegger’s Day. Why this day? On January 16, 1920, the 18th Amendment to the Constitution went into effect and prohibition began. The 18th Amendment was repealed by the 21st Amendment in 1933, ending prohibition.
