A number of parks and greenspace organizations held a mayoral forum last night at Emancipation Park Conservancy. It was probably the most attended mayoral forum of the year. See the featured photo.
KPRC-TV’s Khambrel Marshall was the moderator. In his opening remarks, Khambrel said that H-Town ranked near the bottom of the top 100 cities in terms of city park expenditures per capita.
State Sen. John Whitmire got a good response when he mentioned that the smaller neighborhood parks needed more attention.
Commentary is not going to mention any names, but one of the candidates can be a real downer in some of his responses. Dude, you can respond in a more upbeat manner.

47 years ago today, in 1976, I still remember this. President Gerald Ford and the Democratic Party nominee for President Jimmy Carter had a presidential debate. During the debate, President Ford said there was “no Soviet domination of eastern Europe.” It was a catastrophic blunder that helped Jimmy Carter win the election.
It reminds me of today’s GOP, where a number of GOP elected officials think Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is no big deal.

MLB playoffs once again return to H-Town this weekend.
Since the 2015 season, H-Town has had the MLB playoff experience in seven seasons. 2015, 2017-2019, 2021-2023. We missed out in 2016 and in 2020, the pandemic year, we played in controlled environments.
Justin Verlander and Framber Valdez will be our starting pitchers tomorrow and Sunday.
