Campaign Reports
It looks like we are fixing to leave the hard freeze behind. I have not been in my car and driving since Saturday. This is my third straight day wearing a turtleneck. Yesterday and today’s newspapers were delivered this morning as seen in the featured photo. I survived.

Folks know Commentary lives in State Senate District 15. I have a big-time interest in who gets elected as our next state senator. The campaign contribution and expenditure reports were due yesterday. Here is what I know.
Molly Cook raised $130, 573. Spent $107,628.41. She has $75,665.05 cash-on-hand.
Todd Litton raised $176,733.32. Spent $59,001.92. He has $117,731.40 cash-on-hand.
State Rep. Jarvis Johnson raised $187,912. Spent $33,419.47. He has $106,234.14 cash-on-hand. He also has a $50,000 loan.
Beto Cardenas filed his report, but he hasn’t raised any money as of December 31, 2023.
Karthik Soora has not filed his report.
I am having a hard time opening the reports to see who is contributing. The Texas Ethics Commission webpage is moving slowly this morning.

This is not good news for the Astros. Check this from the Chron:
The Houston Astros‘ bullpen depth has suffered a significant blow, as general manager Dana Brown announced Tuesday that one of the team’s key relief pitchers is expected to miss the 2024 season.
Per a release from the club, right-handed reliever Kendall Graveman underwent surgery on his right shoulder last week in what will likely be a season-ending procedure. He has one season remaining on a three-year contract and is set to make $8 million in 2024.
The team is obviously going to put a priority on finding relief help in the next month.
