On Christmas Eve
The featured photo is the line at Alamo Tamales yesterday. It took me 30 minutes to go through the line and get my Christmas Day tamales. They have a good system for the way they take your order. Very efficient. I am sure the wait will be longer today on Christmas Eve. Alamo Tamales is located on Berry Road just north of North Loop 610. They also have a pop-up at the Farmers Market on Airline.

This comes as no surprise. See this from AP today:
Caitlin Clark raised the profile of women’s basketball to unprecedented levels in both the college ranks and the WNBA, and Tuesday she was named the AP Female Athlete of the Year for her impact on and off the court.
After leading Iowa to the national championship game, Clark was the top pick in the WNBA draft as expected and went on to win rookie of the year honors in the league. Fans packed sold-out arenas and millions of television viewers tuned in to follow her journey. Clark’s exploits were far reaching, casting a light on other women’s sports leagues along the way.
She was certainly under a lot of scrutiny this past year. Congrats on this well-deserved honor.

Commentary said this yesterday about new Astro Christian Walker:
Walker was wearing the 53 for the D-Backs. Christian Javier currently wears the 53 for the Astros.
At his introductory press conference yesterday, Walker was wearing the number 13 orange and blue.
And here is this from the Chron today:
Without saying it outright, general manager Dana Brown strongly indicated Monday the Houston Astros are no longer pursuing free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman, moving on from a franchise cornerstone amid a transformative offseason.
In the past two weeks, the Astros acquired infielder Isaac Paredes in the trade of Kyle Tucker to the Cubs and signed first baseman Christian Walker. Adding Walker will allow Paredes to play third base next year and signaled a pivot by Houston from its attempt to re-sign Bregman.
Nothing will become final until Bregman signs with a team. But Brown, who early this offseason deemed bringing Bregman back the team’s “biggest” priority, all but acknowledged Monday the Astros’ intent to move on without him.
We already knew this. So much for team priorities. Oh, well.
Have a safe Christmas Eve.
