Texas Deportees
From the Chron:
The Biden administration announced Tuesday that Houston and Harris County will receive a combined $382 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist in recovery from May’s flooding in Kingwood and Hurricane Beryl in July.
Houston will receive nearly $315 million. Harris County will get more than $67 million.
I wonder if the “What’s Your Point” crew will give Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo any credit for securing the $67 million. Probably not.

Commentary has been talking about this for months. See this from the Trib:
In Texas, undocumented people have built apartment complexes and skyscrapers that changed skylines. They have picked fruits and vegetable in fields, cooked in restaurant kitchens, cleaned hospitals and started small businesses. They have become stitched into communities from El Paso to Beaumont.
Now some of their employers worry that many of them could get deported when President-elect Donald Trump returns to the White House.
A number of Texas business leaders interviewed by the Tribune describe a sort of wait-and-see apprehension about Trump’s pledged mass deportations. The impact any deportations could have on Texas’ economy will largely depend on the specifics of what Trump does, business leaders say. But those specifics are not yet clear.
“I don’t think any of us know exactly what’s coming as far as policy — we’ve heard all of the rhetoric,” said Andrea Coker of the North Texas Commission, a nonprofit that promotes the Dallas region.
The owner of a Rio Grande Valley agriculture import-export business who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of legal repercussions said four of his seven employees are undocumented. A majority of similar businesses would take a hit should the government deport undocumented people en masse, the business owner estimated.
Without undocumented workers, he said, “We wouldn’t survive and we’ll have to close.”
He said he hired undocumented workers because he struggled to find U.S. citizens and legal residents willing to do the grueling work.
“The people who are here legally don’t want to work here. They’d rather collect unemployment,” he said. “We’ve hired people who were documented, but they don’t last.”

Here in Texas, we have some of Trump’s biggest arse kissers. I am talking about MAGA Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and crooked AG Ken Paxton. These three could help facilitate and speed up the Texas deportee process. Abbott and Patrick are largely responsible for pouring billions into border security. They are all in.
Why start in Texas? Heck, we have one of the largest undocumented immigrant populations with MAGA state government leadership who have demonized this community. They won’t be hard to find. The Texas business community leadership should not have a problem with this. They supported and voted for Trump. Have at it.

What a lousy time to take a trip. See this from Newsweek:
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has been criticized after it emerged she was out of the country, attending a presidential inauguration in Ghana, as northern and western suburbs of her city were hit by devastating wildfires fanned by high winds.
Media outlet INKL News reported this morning that Bass was on her way back to Los Angeles and should return to the city within hours.
Newsweek contacted Bass’ office for comment on Wednesday via telephone and voicemail message outside of regular office hours.
And this:
She has come under attack for not returning to the U.S. sooner in response to the infernos, with (Rick) Caruso telling local network Fox 11 that there had been a “failure” of leadership and management adding that “everybody knew these winds were coming” so the risk should have been anticipated.
Here is the entire read: Where is Karen Bass? LA Mayor Returns From Ghana Trip as City Burns – Newsweek.
This was certainly not a good move on the part of the Mayor. Kind of dumb.

This is hilarious. This is from an online news story on knucklehead Megyn Kelly’s reaction to watching a flick:
“Just made the huge mistake of watching the much-celebrated Conclave & it is the most disgusting anti-Catholic film I have seen in a long time,” Kelly, 54, posted on X/Twitter. “Shame on Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci & John Lithgow for starring in it & shame on director Edward Berger (among others).”
Written by Straughan and adapted from Robert Harris’s 2016 novel of the same name, Conclave is about Fiennes’s Cardinal Lawrence, who’s tasked with electing a new pope.
“‘Spoiler:’ They make THE POPE INTERSEX! This is the big exciting twist at the end. I wish I had known so I wouldn’t have watched it. There are almost no redeeming characters in the movie — every cardinal is morally bankrupt/repulsive,” continued the conservative pundit, who was raised Catholic.
“The only exception of course is the intersex pope (who — surprise! — has female reproductive parts) & the cardinal who keeps her secret — bc of course that kind of Catholic secret-keeping must be lionized. I’m disgusted. What a thing to release to streaming just in time for Christmas. They would never do this to Muslims, but Christians/Catholics are always fair game to mock/belittle/smear.”
Here is the entire read: Conclave writer hits back at Megyn Kelly calling movie ‘repulsive’ and ‘disgusting’.
When the flick first came out, I read a review that basically told me what the movie was about. Of course, this dummy is too lazy to go google what is this movie all about. Or maybe she did, and went to see it just so she could rant about it afterwards.

Just as hilarious is Trump wanting to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

“Today” did a story this morning about a Florida state legislator wanting to change the official Florida state bird from the northern mockingbird to the flamingo. Afterwards, only Craig Melvin could name his home state bird, the South Carolina wren. New York’s Al Roker said his was the dead pigeon. New York’s is the eastern bluebird.

Justin Verlander will now be a Giant.
Tags tweeted this last night on the news:
All four of Verlander’s teams have orange in their colors: Tigers, Astros, Mets and now Giants.
My nephew texted us last night that by also playing for the Orioles, JV would be wearing all of MLB’s oranges. Who knows, maybe the Orioles will trade for him if he is having a good year, the Giants are out of the playoff hunt, and the Orioles still have a shot.
