On HISD Teachers
Commentary didn’t agree with the TEA takeover of HISD. It happened and I hope that our schools improve so we can get out from under TEA control. I found the following in the Chron interesting. See this:
Houston ISD said Wednesday that 95% of the teachers who responded to a survey administered this month indicated they plan to return to the district next year.
The majority of teachers (91%) completed the survey, a district spokesperson said in an online broadcast. And 95% of responding teachers in state-appointed Superintendent Mike Miles’ New Education System, carrying out reforms, indicated they want to stay in that system. The Intent to Return survey was administered earlier than in academic years past.
In the first year under state-appointed leadership, a district spokesperson had said 97% of teachers plan to keep teaching in HISD, according to the 8,000 responses to that year’s survey. The survey found that 97% of NES teachers want to stay in NES and 14% of non-NES teachers want to transfer to a NES school.
Despite last year’s survey results, more than 2,400 teachers left the district in June amid an employee exodus of thousands, records show. The district had around 11,000 teachers that year.
Here is the entire read: HISD says nearly all teachers wish to return next year.
I am rooting for HISD, as in the featured photo.

As most folks know, I don’t get into who wins or loses during Spring Training. I just want the players to stay healthy. In his debut as a Red Sox player yesterday, Alex Bregman hit a dinger.
Justin Verlander will take the mound today for the Giants.
Four weeks from this evening, the Astros host the Space Cowboys at Daikin Park.
